Does citizenship drive economic mobility? Turns out the answer to that question depends a lot on whether and how researchers address selection bias. Check out the new meta analysis from Jens Hainmueller and David D. Laitin. immigrationlab.org/publication/...

You know how I know that you aren't reading the articles that you are citing? Because you are citing them as articles, but they are book reviews, and the title of the "article" is actually the name of the book under review.

Our Constitution specifically bans the federal government from running our elections, reserving that power to the states. This proposal is another attack on our Constitution and an attack on democracy itself. Authoritarian rule will deeply, permanently harm all Americans, on Right and Left.

Sharing this as reminder to myself given my gut reaction to many a recent title on articles about immigration. I know nothing of the editorial and/or title creation process (or its variation) in newsrooms, so should be cautious of casting blame.

I had a good experience with CC&L Roofing in terms of honesty. They came out to bid on venting and told me nothing was needed to get up to code. Could have easily just bid as two other companies did and charged me for unnecessary work.

My experience with 40-400 person classes was the dept. instructed us to grade on a curve, which then was enforced (or not) by faculty/chair. If you don't have TAs or grad instructors (my experience), enforcement gets harder because the incentive for a prof is avoid conflict via grade inflation.

Horrified by this. And my brain also wants to know why courts keep using "deport" in reference to US citizens. Is it purposeful in that a "deportable person" is defined by the INA and so therefore it serves to identify the issue (i.e., not a deportable person)?
