Started on a new scenario for The Esoterrorists today. I foolishly thought that revamping an old adventure (one I'd written for a different RPG a decade back) would be easier than beginning from scratch. Lesson learnt! Revisiting the past is harder than you imagine, as I just want to add more!

I seriously dislike this hobby sometimes - I won't go into details, but all I'll say I'll still be coughing up my time, energy and money to support the games I love (Dark Conspiracy, Conspiracy X, Stormbringer et all) long after all the new editions are long forgotten... grump over :P

I know I might be in the minority here - as much of the post-2000 gaming mindset is for the players through their characters to be the 'focus' but I feel that this often ignores the experience.

Maybe I'm too verbose (I know I spend to much time setting the scene and not enough letting the characters/players explore it), but I'm in the hobby for the story telling, not the experience (the game characters to be the onscreen characters rather than the actors or those watching the screen).

There was a real dearth of outlets for Call of Cthulhu creatives at that time. I sort for just did my own thing (thinking that it was all for free and I'd apologise afterwards), but if what you say is that Chaosium was pretty lifeless by that point, all those early 2000s cheap reprints makes sense

As someone tinkering away on my own Call of Cthulhu material from around 2000 (with the Unboundbook fanzine & Demonground, etc.), Chaosium just didn't seem to care or have the resources to care. I tried to get anything official from them (even a hey, this okay) but only Lynn ever replied.

Drafted - in sketch form (2500 words) - a new setting for my Raw Six rule set today (RW being based on OpenD6 and Mini Six). Heroes of the Inland Sea is unabashedly a take on traditional sword and sorcery, with a bit of Al-Qadim, Dark Sun and Fighting Fantasy mixed in.

This brings back wonderful memories - I still remember scanning (page by page on A4 bed scanner) my first copy of Prince Valiant (the binding of which was busted beyond repair)... I scanned the text and even started recreating the book in Word.

Tidying up an old harddrive drive tonight, and I discovered a Con-style scenario wrote for this grand, old game. I had long thought the draft had been lost to the digital gods, and happy to rediscover it! A good candidate for a future issue of Unbound Magazine, maybe?
