IPC press conf #COP29 “Coal phase out and just transition in Turkey”. Our key messages: Turkey is 13th top CO2 emitter. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) provisional report on the State of the Global Climate in 2024 was just released: wmo.int/publication-... "The year 2024 is on track to be the warmest year on record after an extended streak of exceptionally high monthly global mean temperatures." #COP29

Line graph time series showing global mean surface temperatures for January-September from 1850 to 2024 for a variety of different datasets. There is a long-term warming trend. The January-September 2024 period was the 1.54°C above the pre-industrial average.

The UK has struggled to commission ONE new nuclear power station in the last 7 years, and it will not come on line for at least another 5-7 years, and it will not even replace the retiring fleet. And some people are still trying to convince us that nuclear is solution to the climate crisis. Insane!
