iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

I will be interested to hear what you think!

yeah lots of people seem to hate it! I thought it was great. and, unfortunately, very much worth going into unspoiled.

I didn't even know it was going to be about climate change; I was reluctant because of Tom Cruise. If I'd known it was a Tom Cruise movie about climate change I would never have gone 😅

I got somewhat reluctantly dragged into seeing Digger and I loved it. Easily the best movie about climate change that I've seen.

I love that you are getting to the bottom of this important question!!

they have, because we heavily implied that their child would not be allowed to come back until they did 😓

fray 🇵🇸 @uvcatastrophe.eurosky.social · 06/10/2026

yeah most of our families have done similar. It works well!

000

fray 🇵🇸 @uvcatastrophe.eurosky.social · 06/10/2026

the thing is, we do have savings and if any families were struggling to pay we have tried to make it very clear that they can let us know, we won't ask any questions, and we will work with them on it. But in reality it's the richest families that don't pay on time, because they don't think about it

fray 🇵🇸 @uvcatastrophe.eurosky.social · 05/10/2026

(separate but relatedly, I think it is time for us to institute a late payment fee)

fray 🇵🇸 @uvcatastrophe.eurosky.social · 05/10/2026

you know that thing where people say something isn't surprising but it is disappointing? Well, the existence of seemingly well-adjusted adults who don't really mind when they piss off the people who care for their child is not surprising. But OTOH it is astonishing.

one thing I always enjoy about taskmaster is knowing there are some professional video editors in the UK who get to do interesting, creative, varied work that isn't advertising

0131

fray 🇵🇸 @uvcatastrophe.eurosky.social · 29/09/2026

that sounds tiring but also worthwhile! Our *paediatric* CPR trainings do not have as much actual practice time as I'd like and about half of it is on adult-sized dummies (because the trainers never have enough child/baby ones)

fray 🇵🇸 @uvcatastrophe.eurosky.social · 27/09/2026

yes 100%! It was such a contrast having Nina's prize task right after his, because she brought in an item that involved getting Alex to sit on Greg's lap. Because she knows what show she's on.

fray 🇵🇸 @uvcatastrophe.eurosky.social · 27/09/2026

oh jeeze, I can only imagine what it was like IRL, it was the edited version that annoyed me enough to post about it!

020

fray 🇵🇸 @uvcatastrophe.eurosky.social · 27/09/2026

mild taskmaster vibe spoilers? I wanted to like Matt Lucas in spite of ...everything, but his conviction that he is bringing queerness to a thoroughly heterosexual environment is making me 😑

fray 🇵🇸 @uvcatastrophe.eurosky.social · 26/09/2026

oh, I just learned they used the same methodology as that 100 best English-language novels list: they surveyed people who work in the field and aggregated the results. Which is a good way to get opinions that feel very average

fray 🇵🇸 @uvcatastrophe.eurosky.social · 26/09/2026

yeah I feel the same! What a boring list. They could have at least done one (1) interesting thing and included Bluey on the list

I have been getting so much schadenfreude from him this week that I actually watched a clip of him talking

I love this thread. I do love BeReal but it drives me mad sometimes, and now I have even more reasons why 😂 (please post a cat pic when you're able!)

I have booked my Life in the UK Test. Love how the study guide is called "A Guide for New Residents" when most people have to live here five years before they can apply for a residence status that requires it

170

fray 🇵🇸 @uvcatastrophe.eurosky.social · 10/09/2026

lololol no it definitely wasn't, but that is hilarious

121

fray 🇵🇸 @uvcatastrophe.eurosky.social · 10/09/2026

yay! except now I have the song "baby shark" in my head. Don't google it 😂 😂 😂

I also nominated It Lasts Forever and Then It's Over, which is a short novel I read last year an absolutely adored. It's a postapocalyptic story about a sad zombie. Amazing read, highly recommend, and I think probably fairly viddable as far as books go given a) zombies, b) Pacific Northwest setting

030

fray 🇵🇸 @uvcatastrophe.eurosky.social · 06/09/2026

I nominated The Testament of Ann Lee for festivids. It is a really cool film about the woman who founded the Shaker movement. It's a musical. It's weird and sometimes very upsetting. It's extremely viddable. CN for sexual assault, infant death, and childbirth-related trauma.

where would we be without hinges? surely there must be something

you know, I suspect that the number of vids I make will be well-hinged. The number of vids I plan to make, on the other hand...

How was Ursula le Guin just always right about everything (from Paradises Lost)

Chi-Ans called V-Dichew, Hsing was overwhelmed and disappointed. V-Dichew was exciting and tremendously complicated, yet thin. It was superficial. It was
programs.
There were infinite things in it, but one stupid real thing, her old toothbrush, had more being in it than all the swarming rush of objects and sensations in City or Jungle or Countryside. In Countryside, she was always aware that although there was nothing overhead but the blue air, and she was walking along on grass-stuff that carpeted the uneven deck for impossible distances rising up into impossible shapes (hills), and that the noises in her ears were air moving fast (wind) and a kind of high yit-yit sound sometimes (birds), and that those things on all fours way off on the winds, no, on the hills, were animals (cattle), all the same, all the time, she knew she was sitting in a chair in School Two V-Lab with some junk attached to her body, and her body refused to be fooled, insisting that no matter how strange and amazing and educational and important and historical V-Dichew was, it was a fake.
Dreams could also be convincing, beautiful, frightening, important. But she didn't want to live in dreams. She wanted to be awake in her body touching true cloth, true metal, true skin.

Look at these cuties. 💕 Photo from my collection, no date but the back says “Tiger and I on porch at home.”

Black and white photo of an older white lady standing on a house porch wearing pants, a plaid blouse, and her white hair is puffing out from under a plaid cap. She is smiling at the camera and cradling a shorthaired tabby cat in her arms.

so excited it's the time of year when I wear my favourite clothes and make unhinged plans for festividding

give me a single image from a film that immediately makes you hear the song from the soundtrack in your head (to be fair this applies to pretty much any musical moment in this film)

still from the film "Dirty Dancing", in the scene where Baby and Johnny are dancing and lip-synching "Love is Strange"

For me it’s: number of vids I think I’ll make before nominations open < number of vids I end up making << number of vids I think I’ll make during signups
