US withdrawal from Iraq was scheduled a few years in advance. But with Iran hitting US bases there, and Iran-allied Iraqi militias launching drones at Saudi Arabia, the withdrawal looks—to everyone in the region, and the wider world—like the US under fire ceding more of the Middle East to Iran.

I served in multiple authoritarian states, both communist and otherwise--Russia, Vietnam, Iraq, the Sultanate of Oman, and Ukraine before the Orange Revolution brought in democracy. One common thread among all of them is government spending on propaganda to glorify the dictator/sultan.

How insane are the Republicans with "trans your kids?" Trans becomes a verb? And they are doing it to all the kids? It reflects a poor comprehension of the natural biological fact that about 1/11 people are LGTBQ+, 1/50 people are transvestite, and 1/1500 are born intersex. Accept the facts.

The Trump administration canceled millions of federal contracts for clean energy projects – many of them already underway – and wasted taxpayer money in the process. Each of those projects would have added more supply to the system and lowered costs.
