I ll recommend this paper. Read it once, like it a lot. Not fully grasp all details yet, I ll probably present it at Allen. Really like their previous Trial-Matching one arxiv.org/abs/2306.03603 . We are using/extending some of these OT ideas at Allen for fitting neural data. Inspiring work.

0/10 Thanks for the interest in our preprint. Some takes say it negates or fully supports the “manifold hypothesis”, neither quite right. Our results show that if you only focus on the manifold capturing most of task-related variance, you could miss important dynamics that actually drive behavior.

Friday’s AIND JC lead by Shawn Olsen and I on the Brody lab preprint ran 90+ min, unusual. Nice paper, spirited discussion. Make a clear argument that to grasp behavior we need multiregional, multi-neuron, simultaneous single-trial data. Below quotes from the paper. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Brain-wide coordination of decision formation and commitment
Neural correlates of a subject’s upcoming choice in decision making tasks are remarkably widespread throughout the brain, but how these brain-wide signals are coordinated remains unknown. Do brain reg...

As our community increasingly shifts toward embracing the complexity of the brain, this new book by Xiao-Jing Wang will be an essential go-to. He is among a small, prescient group that embraced important ideas before the rest of us. Here he unpacks them. 1/2 www.taylorfrancis.com/books/mono/1...
