We're delighted to be part of this exciting project! Saltmarshes do so much. They support wildlife - from migrating birds to natterjack toad - lock away carbon, and benefit coastal communities.🌿 Gathering new data is a key step in understanding these habitats so we can protect and champion them.

The flux tower will provide scientists with data on how much carbon is taken out of the atmosphere by this vital habitat. The project is a partnership between UKCEH, The Scottish Government, NatureScot and @wwf.org.uk. It's the most northerly in a network of flux towers around the UK coast. 2/

Following our field campaign in April, BGS, GSNI and @ukceh.bsky.social returned to Blakeney and Cley in Norfolk to continue investigations into the gravel barriers and surrounding marshes. Fieldwork included saline intrusion investigations, drone surveys and geophysical scans.
