This is a good interview of my colleague. Kudos to @ctvnewscalgary.bsky.social and @ctvmarkvillani.bsky.social. Journalists duly report on things we linguists say, but imo it’s rather uncommon to see what we actually do in the news. There’s even a bit of video with Dennis at one of his eye-trackers.

The new course LING 599: Mathematical Linguistics (Formal Properties of Grammars) will be taught by Prof. Diego Gabriel Krivochen in Winter 2027 (MWF 12–12:50). This is a seminar for advanced students in LING, but students in other programs (CPSC, MATH, etc.) are most welcome to enrol and benefit!
