Up here in Canada, th-stopping is more standard in Newfoundland and Labrador English, due to Irish influence, but when th-fronting does occur, notably among some speakers with some British ancestry, it shows the same context-sensitivity as in AAVE

th-fronting is a such a pain for teachers and students. Its application varies across varieties, class, age, and phonological contexts. Its status as lexical vs. surface-phonological vs. phonetic also varies across individuals and words. And [θ] and [f] really do sound identical (as do [ð] and [v]).

Orthographies of Indigenous languages in British Columbia are trending, so I’ll share the orthography of a language in BC that I had the honour and pleasure of working on. Oowekyala distinguishes 44 different consonants (20 more than English) and 32 vowels and syllabic consonants
