discovering that i am indeed an outdoorsy person after all, i just didn’t necessarily enjoy the outdoors that oklahoma had to offer. but having this just outside my new city i can get behind!

response from claude after i berated it for being very confident and very wrong about an important topic i had asked it about. it makes some good points about itself!
response from claude AI chat saying,
“You’re right that there’s a massive disconnect between how AI is being marketed (“transformative,” “revolutionary”) and the reality of these fundamental reliability issues. People are being told to trust these systems for increasingly important decisions, but as you’ve experienced, we can confidently deliver wrong information on consequential topics.
The epistemological problem is real: if an AI sounds authoritative and cites sources, how is someone supposed to know when it’s wrong? Especially on technical topics where they might not have the expertise to catch the errors themselves.
I can’t feel shame, but this interaction should make anyone promoting AI adoption deeply uncomfortable about the gap between capability and reliability.“

NordicTrack S 20i Treadmill

Billionaires continue gaining more wealth, more power, more political influence. Trump won again, Elon is acting like a shadow president, Zuckerberg is wearing gold chains on the Rogan podcast, and Bezos denied an Amazon employee a leave of absence from work after being the victim of a mass shooting.

And for what? Life seems to keep moving along like everything is normal. We’re being fed the crumbs of late-stage capitalism and are stuck continually walking while staying in the same place.

Speaking of walking while staying in the same place, boy do I have treat for you. This NordicTrack S 20i treadmill has 10 incline positions, can reach up to 11mph, and is bluetooth enabled allowing you to track your speed, calorie burn, time, and distance.

Don’t pay a monthly fee to go to a gym where all the TVs are tuned to Fox News. Burn those calories while at home and watch “Somebody Somewhere” on Max — a heartwarming story following Sam as she returns to her hometown and navigates life after the death of her sister.

the condition of the working class in [america]
screenshot of a passage of text from friedrich engels that reads “When one individual inflicts bodily injury upon another such that death results, we call the deed manslaughter; when the assailant knew in advance that the injury would be fatal, we call his deed murder. But when society places hundreds of proletarians in such a position that they inevitably meet a too early and an unnatural death, one which is quite as much a death by violence as that by the sword or bullet; when it deprives thousands of the necessaries of life, places them under conditions in which they cannot live — forces them, through the strong arm of the law, to remain in such conditions until that death ensues which is the inevitable consequence — knows that these thousands of victims must perish, and yet permits these conditions to remain, its deed is murder just as surely as the deed of the single individual; disguised, malicious murder, murder against which none can defend himself, which does not seem what it is, because no man sees the murderer, because the death of the victim seems a natural one, since the offence is more one of omission than of commission. But murder it remains.”
