How it feels to play Silent Hill Townfall when that one enemy is between you and where you need to go.

X-axis camera inversion is an interesting one, I've rarely seen folks use! Has that always been your preferred way to play, or was there a game where it was the scheme that "clicked"? Either way glad they added it so you could enjoy!

I think what I desire most of all this fall is a feeling of change and renewal. Lot of bad stuff out there and it has been an exceedingly long summer for me... So leaves changing and relief from the heat are what I want most, in multiple ways!

Obnoxious traps you hate are better than traps that you barely remember, imo. At least hate is an emotional response!

No mention of Star Fox Assault in the direct but I can *feel* it in my bones with the Adventures port.

Nintendo really doesn't appear to fear GTA 6 and I can respect that. Maybe they pushed some things up and others back but it doesn't come off that way compared to how we've watched devs react to the other GTA 6 release windows. It's just nice to see one company be stable right now.

It is Wednesday, my dudes! I'm still behind on writing about recently completed games, but I've been so busy this summer that my regular busy season resumed under my nose, and it has somehow lessened my workload, which means I'll have mental capacity to delegate again soon!

There's a lot to say about the Ocarina of Time remake but I hope people are ready for the amount of weird ways to play the in game ocarina with words, instruments, or just random sounds that Nintendo has opened the doors for.

Tuesdays after a holiday always feel like a Monday (unless you had to work Monday). Also, again I say we need more holidays here in America

I hope that we still get some games released in that window. I know some of us aren't GTA players (or aren't at these prices), so it would make me happy to have alternatives, too!

and it feels impactful to learn the controls via mouse before unlocking keyboard shortcuts. I wish this game a lot of success, as I think we need MORE games that are crafted to be exactly what they aim for. I'm looking forward to more out of PROFITS 2167, but I'm loving what we have already! (5/5)

jokes like Labor Liquidation Machines that neither dominate the experience nor feel completely divorced from the overall tone. Normally games like this (even Bills Must Be Paid) try to include some kind of plot, and I'm grateful this one is limited. The UI is also a work of functional art, (4/5)

across the 5 missions, and the developer has announced an intention to build more. There is also an "endless" mode. Defending stations, transferring materials, upgrading your train, rerolling upgrades, and doing it all on a time limit for CAPITALISM. There's plenty of tongue in cheek (3/5)

Put simply, you drive a train from station to station, transporting minerals, resources, and fighting off bugs. What seems like train simulator gameplay loop quickly becomes a very tactile and engaging roguelite tower defense game. While it's still early access, it provides hours of gameplay (2/5)

That's right I'm bulk posting but I've been playing SO MANY FUN GAMES. #24: PROFITS 2167: Planetary Resource Optimization & Freight Infrastructure Technician Simulator. Despite the mouthful title, the mechanics are simple, fun, and really, really awesome. (1/5)

You're allowed to choose a color for your reticle, and there's a lot of good sound feedback. It's nice to have normalized choices for focal points and ways to engage other senses that normalize holistic experiences even for a game with 1 whole mechanic (aiming).

Game #23: Bills Must Be Paid. Another of the incremental roguelite genre, very chill. Music and sound are wonderfully reminiscent of a casino/arcade and the mechanics and loop are simple, clean fun. There's no real thoughts or decisions required, which is nice for a simple evening or two of SMASH.

And game #22: How to Fish. Played through with @kikicasts.bsky.social but honestly realized I suck at FPS against small, non-human shapes. Very fun, very silly, very weird. Nothing beats being carried off by a seagull when you go down in a boss fight.

I'm hoping that we get some news about Scars of Kosmora soon, but I know GTA 6 has pushed a lot of games around this year. Very healing experience, either way, and I'll wait as long as it takes. A beautiful game, with big shoes for the sequel to fill. If you've not played it, I highly recommend it.

GAME #21 BACK WITH A VENGEANCE, IT'S KENA, BRIDGE OF SPIRITS. Such a lovely game to replay, with wonderful combat, wonderful vibes, and wonderful music. The combat isn't mind-numbingly hard, and if you master parry timing, you can have a lot of fun.

PROFITS 2167 is probably the most fun incremental/roguelite I've played ever. The gameplay loop is super satisfying and the UI is beautiful. It's still early access but feels like a complete experience as-is.

My eyes are melting from the amount of cologne and perfume in the office today. Plz stop. You do not need more than one spritz. Put it on your wrist. Spread it around. MAYBE walk through a second spritz if you want it strong, but NO MORE.

From the mundane to cryptids and more, this game makes the things that go bump in the night friends, and though the story is heavy, it's not a long endeavor and isn't in the foreground. I really loved how short the game was, as it kept the gameplay from overstaying its welcome.

Game #20 of 2026... Creature Kitchen! Probably the cutest and most vibe-based horror-adjacent cozy game. Very short, but VERY fun. As someone who grew up in a rural, isolated area, this game taps into the fear of the dark and fills it with just enough friendly-yet-unsettling encounters.

Overall, I want to go back. I want to like Motorslice. But there's no reward. Platforming rarely felt satisfying. The story doesn't exist, and neither does any aspect of gameplay promise a reward. I'd give it a "vindictive frolfer ex-wife with a side of deep seated personality issues." out of 10.

I think it's clear they wanted to make them for camera shots of the main character, they felt hamfisted and awkward, like someone trying to recreate cheesy comedy sequences through Plato's Cave. After getting lost and my only choice being "reload to a checkpoint you were stuck at", I tapped out.

Now, the slack off sections are fully optional, and I'll admit I did go through them for the content, and because I was hoping to see something with some soul, but it just never happened. Maybe because of the FEET SNIFFING I missed some lore, but P was just hard to feel attached to as a character.

Speaking of, Orbie is a fucking creep and represents the worst of internet objectification of women... but is also the product of P's tinkering? It's implied she modified the orb, and prefers it this way, and the choices of dialogue are poor fan service, at best.
110
Tyro @tyroworks.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
My suggestion: I think it needed a whole different control system for combat/chainsaw use. Make it a whole thing. BUILD IT into the experience. Have Orbie deploy a bigger blade or switch to two-handing it. Give me a reason to think P being a Slicer matters.
110
Tyro @tyroworks.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
Parrying felt like a "wouldn't it be cool if" system, as most attacks have zero audio cues, making it tough to time. I easily died 40 times to silent but deadly sawblades hurtling towards me, even if I wanted to parry. Most games give you a sound with an enemy attack so you know it's coming.
110
Tyro @tyroworks.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
Charge attacks, don't hurt the Colossus like bosses at all, because they're only killed with motorslices (riding the saw on a wall, sometimes changing from horizontal to vertical), and don't appear to do more damage to enemies that already can't take more than two hits from the chainsaw swings.
110
Tyro @tyroworks.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
Combat being done in the same control world as platforming and parkour also feels like an afterthought rather than a core gameplay loop, despite blocking progression in most areas. As if the cherry on top, there's a charge attack and a parry, both of which are functionally useless.
110
Tyro @tyroworks.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
Pile on conflicting controls, finicky, directions on controller, and stiff generally speaking for a parkour game, and the game seems both uninterested in letting you have fine control of the character past your initial input, but also demanding you change direction USING A CHAINSAW.
110
Tyro @tyroworks.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
When the chainsaw traversal and platforming segments work, they work well! But they just leave me wanting more. This is also tough because at times it feels like a Mario Party mini game, and maybe that's where it belonged. The mechanic is clunky, slow, and noticeably missing most of the time.
110
Tyro @tyroworks.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
As a result, backtracking or secret hunting for orbs or just getting lost because you followed the wrong yellow paint and missed one visual cue after beating all the enemies can leave you feeling stranded, slow, and like you're carrying a chainsaw for no good reason.
210
Tyro @tyroworks.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
Even with the presence of yellow paint (well, orange) it doesn't really work when the environment is huge. Unlike games such as Shadow of the Colossus or Chibi Robo, which use scale to make the player feel small, I felt the devs just wanted to make a concrete superstructure. They succeeded?
110
Tyro @tyroworks.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
I liked the things the game offered. Parkour platforming, an industrial Prince of PerNier vibes with a chainsaw, but a number of flaws killed my buzz(saw). So let's talk about what kept this from being beaten and why! Starting with core gameplay: Progression is up, but sometimes, it's down. Far.

Abandoned game #2 of 2026: Motorslice. There's a lot to unpack here. Psychologically and gameplay-wise. No spoilers, because there's not much story experienced in the first 3 chapters.

It is Wednesday, the week is passing me by quickly, but that means it's also almost the weekend! Super excited to keep plugging away at games, maybe my backlog won't get SUPER long in the next couple of months. Surely there isn't about to be a deluge of games or anything.
