How it feels to play Silent Hill Townfall when that one enemy is between you and where you need to go.

That's right I'm bulk posting but I've been playing SO MANY FUN GAMES. #24: PROFITS 2167: Planetary Resource Optimization & Freight Infrastructure Technician Simulator. Despite the mouthful title, the mechanics are simple, fun, and really, really awesome. (1/5)
UI from PROFITS 2167, featuring a train throttle, switch-steer lever, map, brake pull, and directional levers for resources.

Game #23: Bills Must Be Paid. Another of the incremental roguelite genre, very chill. Music and sound are wonderfully reminiscent of a casino/arcade and the mechanics and loop are simple, clean fun. There's no real thoughts or decisions required, which is nice for a simple evening or two of SMASH.
Piggy banks being broken, with varying dollar amounts and gemstones spillout out of them as a hammer swings with text saying Jackpot and multipliers. (Bills Must Be Paid)

And game #22: How to Fish. Played through with @kikicasts.bsky.social but honestly realized I suck at FPS against small, non-human shapes. Very fun, very silly, very weird. Nothing beats being carried off by a seagull when you go down in a boss fight.

GAME #21 BACK WITH A VENGEANCE, IT'S KENA, BRIDGE OF SPIRITS. Such a lovely game to replay, with wonderful combat, wonderful vibes, and wonderful music. The combat isn't mind-numbingly hard, and if you master parry timing, you can have a lot of fun.

Game #20 of 2026... Creature Kitchen! Probably the cutest and most vibe-based horror-adjacent cozy game. Very short, but VERY fun. As someone who grew up in a rural, isolated area, this game taps into the fear of the dark and fills it with just enough friendly-yet-unsettling encounters.

I think it's clear they wanted to make them for camera shots of the main character, they felt hamfisted and awkward, like someone trying to recreate cheesy comedy sequences through Plato's Cave. After getting lost and my only choice being "reload to a checkpoint you were stuck at", I tapped out.

Now, the slack off sections are fully optional, and I'll admit I did go through them for the content, and because I was hoping to see something with some soul, but it just never happened. Maybe because of the FEET SNIFFING I missed some lore, but P was just hard to feel attached to as a character.

Abandoned game #2 of 2026: Motorslice. There's a lot to unpack here. Psychologically and gameplay-wise. No spoilers, because there's not much story experienced in the first 3 chapters.

Game #19: Inscryption. Nice short sweet puzzler with some deckbuilder vibes. It's more of a horror story experience than a deckbuilder, as the most grating feature was being forced to take so. many. cards. Overall a great game and worth a play! (I was gifted a copy by @harvologist.bsky.social )

Game #18: D-Topia! This picture doesn't do the game justice, but is my favorite part. D-Topia was a fascinating game with a lot of heavy themes around AI, Utilitarianism, and being human... sort of? I enjoyed the experience, but felt it could have been more. Solid experience with some replayability.

Abandoned game #1 of 2026: Beast of Reincarnation. I wanted to have fun. I love Koo. I loved the opening. I thought maybe Game Freak had cooked. They didn't, when you look at the technical weirdness, copied homework, and things we shouldn't be seeing from a AAA dev in 2026. I'll do a breakdown ⬇️

Game #17 is special. There is a concept of argument known as "reductio ad absurdum." That is, reducing to the absurd. This is a form of the slippery slope, where you take an argument to its utmost ridiculous logical conclusion. That is Disco Elysium. WARNING. SPOILERS BELOW ⤵️

GAME #16 of 2026: Cat Isle. Really simple, really chill, really short management type game. Sometimes games don't have to be anything more than they are to be enjoyed.

#13 of 2026, calling it here, Slay the Spire 2. Excited for the early access period to keep trucking along, but I have to tap out here. I've stopped enjoying the A10 grind (with clears on the Silent, Regent, and Defect) and will wait before I come back. And yes, it's a skill issue. ⤵️

#0011 of 2026: 007 First Light. My praises, in no particular order: a story entrenched in AI, technology, and family; buttery smooth and tactical gameplay, and environments and mechanics that are right at home in a Bond film. The one gripe I have? Capitalism. (Product placement) ⤵️

Game #10 of 2026: PRAGMATA. In general: loved the concepts, graphics on point, but the storytelling face planted. Hard. Like they never knew what they were writing but knew they had to include certain moments. That said, I'm telling my kids that this was Artemis II. Spoilers below ⬇️

Game 9 of 2026 is I Love You, Colonel Sanders. I don't think it was the weirdest visual novel I've ever played... But I think it was the perfect punishment for losing a bet. I also tried a KFC jellybean and some KFC potato chips while my partner and I blasted through it.
Visual novel screen from I Love You, Colonel Sanders featuring a bucket of chicken, bowls of mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and a plate of biscuits, with a text box from Colonel Sanders saying "I didn't get to be the most famous chicken-man in the history of chicken and man by NOT reminding people to go out and buy my chicken"

#8 of 2026: MOUSE: PI for Hire. I have a lot of complicated feelings about MOUSE, but if you're a DOOM/boomer shooter fan, you're probably in for a treat! On the whole: it was good, and fun as an experience. I forgot about the hint feature, so frustrated myself more, but also experienced a few bugs

And very close together, it's game #6 of 2026! Goldeneye 007 for the N64 (Switch version, but with the N64 controller!). Even using the emulator tools to my advantage, 00 Agent mode made me give up before reaching the end, and I did the last couple of main story missions and rolled credits on Agent.

Whoops, nearly 2 weeks late, CAIRN is game #5 of 2026! Hands down the most beautiful game I've played, and honestly expect to play, all year. The sound design was very immersive, and half the time I didn't even notice it had started or stopped.

I like this by Nintendo. But, can we acknowledge this is still ignoring the $50 to $60 jump? Like they were perfectly happy to make physical games and digital the same price then, and many games on all platforms are releasing at $70+ digitally. So... Why now?
