This one is my phone background and I really like it

My mom always says I'm a good photographer. I usually disagree bc I just have a phone - that's easy. But maybe there is something to the way something catches my eye at a particular angle?
A backlit nature scene with the focus on dried Queen Annes Lace flowers framed by fencing wire in the foreground. A background of blue sky with a few wispy clouds.

Can you send a couple dollars to help my disabled community member who is about to lose their phone while houseless?
Text on blue background with clouds reads, "Help a disabled member of your community stay connected to vital resources.

I have been struggling to keep up with bills while dealing with losing my housing, and I only have one day left to pay my cell phone bill before they turn it off. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Did you know that federal employee health benefits eliminated gender affirming medical care coverage? I do! (About to go pick up a $330/month prescription right now) You should probably care about this because we're an easy access testing ground for what they're planning for everyone.
Event flyer reads:

"Federal Siblings in Solidarity
Collective Action for Trans Healthcare 👍
Thursday, July 23, 2026
5:30-6:30 PDT
8:30-9:30 EDT
Join expert panelists in a virtual Q&A about the elimination of gender affirming medical care in federal employee health benefits. We'll discuss how:
-medical care is a human right
-an injury to one is an injury to all
-we fight back tight
-BONUS: receive an organizing toolkit for you and your local union!

All federal workers and allies invited!
Come one, come all!"

Same as it ever was, unfortunately. (Text from the autobiography of Mother Jones, writing about the time before the Haymarket Affair.)
Text reads, "The employers use the cry of anarchism to kill the movement. A person who believed in an eight-hour working day was, they said, an enemy to his country, a traitor, an anarchist. The foundations of government were being gnawed away by anarchist rats. Feeling was bitter. The city was divided into two angry camps. The working people on one side - hungry, cold, jobless, fighting gunmen and police with bare hands. On the other side the employers, knowing neither hungry nor cold, supported by the newspapers, by the police, by all the power of the great state itself."

My daughter has to do all these godawful business classes for her accounting degree. She had to make a "personal brand portfolio" which is like her personal hell, so we made it fun by packing some easter eggs in there.

The juxtaposition of the gigantic hyper capitalist ads and the twin red, white, and blue Jesus billboards with the wall to wall crowds is so dystopian in a way that's kind of embarrassing because it's so predictably where this story was going
Huge crowds completely fill the streets in New York City. Electronic billboards on the buildings overhead show an ad for a phone that says, "Samsung. The world's first privacy display." Two ads showing a picture of Jesus with red white and blue stripes coming out of his heart that says, "Jesus I trust in you." An ad for Coca-Cola. And an ad for M&Ms.

My thoughts when ppl immediately became uncritical KH stans and claiming it as "harm reduction"
The "voting is harm reduction" discourse is so 2016 🥱

Unless the number of people you've fed, people you've housed, dearrests you've done, joints or cigarettes you've passed out, gardens you've grown, hours of free childcare you've provided, rides you've offered, video transcriptions you've written, needle exchanges and medical funds and cooperatives and bail funds and evacuation funds you've supported, forests you've physically defended, medications you've shared...

Is greater than the number of restaurants you've eaten in, vacations you've been on, bars you've drank in, stores you've been in without a mask, crowds you've been in without a mask, doctors offices you've been in without a mask, schools your children have been in without a mask.. just in the last four years..

Then idk I'm just really not interested in your opinion on "harm reduction"

I just came across this comment I wrote on Facebook on March 24, 2020, in response to an Ed, Edd and Eddy meme about returning to the status quo after COVID-19. I used to love 'I-told-ya-so's
Comment by Nic: This actually makes me really anxious. Don't forget that "the economy" is just a term for the huge set of interconnected production and consumption activities that distribute resources - just money and resources going from person to person - not a living, breathing, feeling thing. If the powers that be are talking about sacrificing human lives for "the economy" by sending workers back to work in a time of crisis, instead of doing something like redistributing the assets of the wealthiest citizens, they're not actually worried about the economy, they're worried about the status quo. The status quo will kill us.
