Narrative & Lore Tier List If you haven't read quest text or the books or played Vanilla, TBC, WotLK or WC III you won't get it

Zul'Jarra, Tess Greymane, Talinji, Yrel (before BfA) Alleria and Orwenya suffer from writers scared to take risks so they end up not having any plots to write home about. Faerin, Moira, Tyrande, Pre-Legion Sylvanas, Jaina avoid this by having character development! Shocker!

Blizzard Entertainment makes a great game with the most interesting setting and lore dragged down by stories I could believe were written by Grok.

Typeright @typewriter.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

Do not be angry at others anger over 12.1. I may not understand why people are still hoping for this story but as my nigga Baal pointed out, the story they want to tell is gross, boring, and damaging to the setting.

That entire cinematic was deeply ugly. 1) saying that the Zul'jarra alone is the strength of the Amani 2) implications that they lived in the destroyed villages of TBC and were forced into relocation by Belves 3) shaving his head given the role of hair in Black/Native culture

I do not care about the conclusion and I cannot get mad about it or pretend blizzard has ever shown they could nail this ending and I'm wondering what got the rest of this community believing they could pull this off. We've known Zul'jan would die. Months ago.

Indeed, there is even a Rush'kah for Ula'tek! She's a loa by every measure of the in-game narrative. Which makes the entire narrative trajectory for Zul'jan of course incoherent. But hey, God forbid 30 years of narrative consistency get in the way of the story you want to tell.

"Ula'tek isn't a loa", tbh the devs are wrong. 1) does Ula'tek have troll worshippers? Yes 2) does Ula'tek give magical powers? Yes 3) does Ula'tek have a Priest or Shadow Hunter affiliation? Yes Loa has *never* meant exclusively Wild Gods. This position hinges on that retcon.

Some interesting details about the Westfall decor. You even have to purchase it from the shady cross faction vendors on the Horde side. I wonder if that means a similar Horde themed decor collection is coming? Maybe Barrens themed?

I *like* 12.1, because I love snakes, I love dark spooky stuff, and I love Troll content. But what I find unacceptable and tedious is 1) Snake Bad, 2) Retcons on what Loa means for the sake of the plot, and 3) Zuljan dying is not a good conclusion.

Seriously though, the writing post-Voidspire took a nose dive. Some of Warcraft's worst. Yet Malacrass and the cutscenes and Zul'Jarra's interactions w/Malacrass make me feel, something. Not friendslop or family slop. I want that nigga DEAD and I want Zul'Jan safely returned.

Times like this I struggle to see the point in someone saying something like Shadowlands is better than Midnight because Shadowlands has no good writing or aura and retroactively ruins WC3 | WotLK | Sylvanas even more but Arator was pretty annoying for those last few chapters, I guess.

160

Typeright @typewriter.bsky.social · 12/08/2026

Aura. The moment to moment writing is largely good. It's everything coalescing as a whole not only from chapter to chapter, patch to patch, but expansion to expansion that sucks; but this section is GREAT. Love the cutscenes too! Presentation has improved from 12.0.

Excited for 12.1. I've avoided the doomerism which is somewhat warranted so I'm sure what good happens will be noted and appreciated but I expect Blizzard to walk on rakes and ruin their patch and their story. I miss TWW.
