My current favorite genre of TikTok is Europeans in America for the first time realizing how based America can be. This may be a "reset" as Xbox is claiming, but it's also just another example in a long running saga of Microsoft acquiring studios only to close them down. Nothing Xbox touches has ever been safe, and that now includes famed devs like Bethesda, id, Blizzard, etc..

Overall, if the quality of Apple's 2027 OSs remains as stable and refined as DB1, this is absolutely the closest Apple has come to a Snow Leopard level reset for their operating systems since, well, Snow Leopard. All that's left to see is if Apple can deliver with Siri AI.

Expecting to see similar improvements to my iPhone on iPad OS 27 on my iPad mini (A17 Pro). Decided to go ahead and update my Apple Watch and Apple TVs as well just to complete the circle, despite not having nearly as many performance quirks or buggy moments on either device on last year's OSs.

The same has to be said for my M4 Mac mini. While I personally didn't despise Tahoe like many macOS users, I definitely couldn't deny that it felt rougher and less polished than Sequoia before it. While Golden Gate isn't radically different, it just feels more polished and refined than Tahoe did.

Holy hell. My iPhone (17 Pro Max) hasn't been this reliable and performant in months. Granted a lot of the quirks were likely ironed out by flashing the phone and starting fresh, but iOS 27 is absolutely a major feature here. The whole OS feels faster, more responsive and like how iOS used to feel.

I'm usually pretty cautious about installing Apple's first dev betas on my devices, usually waiting for the public betas. However, early reactions to DB1 across Apple's 27 releases re: performance and stability made me bite the bullet and upgrade all my devices, including a refresh on my iPhone.

My next 2026 backlog game is Jedi Survivor. A game I started and played a decent amount of before dropping it like a stone (despite really enjoying it). Loaded it up last night and realized I have no idea what’s going on or what I’m doing, so a hard restart will be required. Not ideal but 🤷‍♂️

Overall, I'm glad the AC franchise took a step back and understood what made the original games from the PS3/360 era shine, while still incorporating some of the nice-to-haves from the more modern RPG-style entries. Highly recommend checking this game out if you haven't already!

Credits rolled on #AssassinsCreedMirage. A return to the old school Assassin's Creed formula with modern quality of life features that really make for a solid, if uneven, experience. Top tier world design with a solid narrative, though the ending can be a bit obtuse if you haven't played Valhalla.

All in all, even at the new $15.99/month, YouTube Premium is a tremendous value. And while I can't personally attest to how ad-free it is, YouTube Premium Lite is also a pretty good value if you want to save some cash and don't need or want the bonus music subscription.

I'm a little bummed YouTube Premium is getting more expensive, but I really can't complain about the value. I watch a ton of YouTube (like, a lot), and while I mainly use Apple Music for streaming, having a secondary streaming service for music I don't want messing up my recommendations is nice.

All in all, I feel like Obsidian is still one jump away from crafting a truly groundbreaking space RPG in this universe. The writing is there. The world building is there. The narrative quality, meaningful narrative choices and interesting companions are there. But they still have some work to do!

While there were interesting and consequential choices to make in dialogue and quests, the actual character building still feels very stilted. I never felt like my gear, skill or perk choices actually made a meaningful impact on the moment-to-moment gameplay outside of some neat dialogue choices.

That's a wrap on #TheOuterWorlds2. The game was a huge step up from the first game, taking everything I loved about Outer Worlds and dialing it up a notch. Bigger, more varied environments. Better writing. Biting satire. Unfortunately it still failed to deliver an interesting RPG experience.

Someone in a TikTok comment described it perfectly: I've been living a functional life, but not a satisfying one. Heated Rivalry gave me the shot in the arm to actually do something about it, even if it totally rocked my mental state in the process.

Coming to the realization over the past few weeks that I don't, in fact, enjoy being single and actually do want that in my life, but I've been running on autopilot and just going through the motions for so long and it took the fucking gay hockey show for me to wake up.

So now I'm living vicariously through two fictional characters by watching this singular hour of television on loop, while also consciously deciding that I am going to work on myself in 2026 so that I can try and have that kind of connection with another person.
