Ahh, that's better! Nice, clean 3D ggplots with no texture bleeding (because those are real 3D polygons, automatically transformed into the 3D coordinate system of the underlying ggplot!) render_polygons( us_states, data_column_top = "total_pop_15", color = "height" ) #RStats #rayshader

Still enjoy this comic I made years ago, even if I haven’t done any graphics work in so long.
3 panel comic named “Tiles”.

Panel 1: a person looking at a document labelled “GPU texture tiling library”, and wondering to themself, “I don’t need to use this”
Panel 2: the person triumphantly declaring, “I’ll just roll my own texture loading with manual memcpys”
Panel 3: the person quietly declaring “oh no”, their hubris finally realized, as their world is ripped apart at the pixel level because they didn’t properly take into account intended the GPU’s swizzled memory layout.

A small part of the Boundary Waters, with the Kekekabic Trail making its sometimes rocky or swampy way around lakes, just like it did in September, 1974 when I walked its length in three days, stopping each mid-afternoon to explore around a lake. Some nostalgic experimentation with #rayshader.
A shaded relief map of an area that's low relief overall, but with some rugged hills and lots of local scale topography related to the bedrock surface. There are several lakes shaded blue. The Kekekabic Trail is shown as a black line.Same area as shown on the map in the other image, but now in three dimensional perspective view. The trail is visible here also.
