For folks using #rust here's your reminder on why you shouldn't call .unwrap() on that Result type. You aren't actually smarter than the compiler, most of the time.

Cloudflare outage on November 18, 2025
Cloudflare suffered a service outage on November 18, 2025. The outage was triggered by a bug in generation logic for a Bot Management feature file causing many Cloudflare services to be affected.

Got some of the N1 #Nerf toys for my son's birthday, and I was disappointed to see that these aren't the toys of my childhood. I remember battles behind couch cushions, with foam darts. These are more like real bullets, and they hurt. Maybe I'm just old but, this wasn't the fun I hoped it would be.

These pancake flat sprinter stages are a real slog. #TourdeFrance I think they should do less of this sort of stages (Stage 3) and more punchy stuff (like Stage 2). Everyone in the peloton knows its a sprint finish and it's like 180km with very little interest in the race other than the scenery.

Nasty crash, but not really anyone's fault. Just a victim of circumstances.

Classic corporate move to buy out Eurosport for the #TourDeFrance, charge users £30/mo to watch the race, and then kill the ad free stream. This is why we can't have nice things, these broadcasting conglomerates are allowed to pay millions for exclusive rights, and then have to recoup their costs.

Nice take. As someone who is/was an AI skeptic, I do think think these systems are useful, just like a text editor is useful for writing code, a tool that combined with judgement and effort. It is not a solution all by itself. It will completely destroy a lot of developer jobs though. #ai #dev

It is both awesome and completely insane that #sqlite is in the public domain. The documentation is incredible. The performance? Incredible. Oh, and just in case you need a full text search engine in your database with zero configuration, it's got that too. (FTS5) And they give it away for free.

Tax day. Just another reminder of how the US government fails its citizens by refusing to make this simple. My UK taxes were done for me by my employers reports to the government and all I had to do was confirm everything looked good. Took 5 minutes. This is day 2 of "working on" my US taxes.

matchbook art of past travels #art #watercolor #matchbookart #watercolorandink
Matchbook cover artwork, created with watercolor and ink.

From left to right: 1) Switzerland matchbook that is opened revealing it's red-tipped matches. Switzerland is written in the middle on top of a compass with 2014 written on it, with a Swiss flag above and to the left, a mountain with a sun behind it to the top right, below is a lake surrounded by greenery and distant mountains. 2) a simplified Notre Dame on top of a stamp-like outline, dates 2014 and 2024. 3) London, UK matchbook with red-tipped matches being revealed, with Tower Bridge drawn on the matchbook with the date 2022 written vertically on the top right. 4) Bottom row. Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background. This matchbook has a front closure with a staple holding the mat he's in place. 5) colorful Copenhagen houses in yellow, green, and blue, with a boat dated 2023, this matchbox is open showing red-tipped matches. 6) Middle top: Florence's Duomo with a large sun on the left 7) Middle bottom : A Kiwi bird in the middle of a wavy lined blue background. 2018 in the bottom left, and a yellow star in the top right. 8) A skinny tall matchbox with Mexico written upsidedown and an open matchbook with red-tipped matches. A cocktail with a lime wedge and mint, and green accents, dated 2017 and 2022. Signed by the artist.
