So many big changes in Joplin 3.7.

Booked the first tickets on the next riding-overseas-adventure. Bit of a bigger and disruptive one, so a little more nervous, but gotta do it.

Little Saturday ride north to the Hunter. It apparently does two things well: wine and motorcycle roads. It was fun.

Sometimes, I ride in solitude and in silence. No Cardo. No music. Just engine, wind, road, and the vastness inside a helmet. Perfect. Solitude removes the social soundtrack. Silence removes the auditory one. Together they give me back to myself. #motosky #motorcycle youtu.be/SGWCp6NDFFY

We talk about "freedom" as one of the reasons we ride. But what is it? And do we actually find it in the saddle? This week's video considers the idea of freedom through three tests. And only one of them makes it. youtu.be/sjg0nxXg9lk?... #motorcycle #motosky

Awesome. A company contacted me for a collaboration/review. Happens regularly, and I ignore most of them. Not quite sure how to take this one though. It's for a company that manufactures mobility scooters. 🤔

Enjoying getting out on the dirt a little more. Still not my comfortable place, but it's fun and opens up new areas to ride in. And it pushes me. 😀 #motorcycle #motosky

So, I finally put together the clips I recorded in May of this year, riding a Honda NC750X DCT from Limburg in the Netherlands, through Belgium into the Ardennes. Honestly it was a trip of a lifetime for me, I can’t describe the joy this ride brought me #motosky youtu.be/pn_5tDz2Uvw?...

Trip yesterday to my Mum's via Oberon. was long but good. 440km on back roads. Made an hour longer by roadworks...and nearly considerably longer by a suicidal wombat. No idea what it is with me and suicidal wildlife. I should have a word with the animal gods. #motorcycle #motosky

Riding to see my mum down south on the second last day of winter. But unfortunately if I don't want to do the freeway, I go over the mountains and it's still cold there. Well. Cold-ish. The trials of living in Australia. 🇦🇺😂

On an insta reel someone commented "Shut up! You're old and irrelevant." Half right. I'm 59. I'm also a much better rider than the 24-year-old boofhead who put a Z250 down a rabbit hole in 1991. Here's why the best time to ride is when you're older. #motorcycle #motosky youtu.be/6_FkqGVgZfI

Riding had a weird effect on me. It unmade me and then put me back together again, only different and better. Victor Turner called it a rite of passage through liminal space. But it's a continual ... And fascinating ... process with riders. #motosky #motorcycle youtu.be/THo0EPccHrE

Quick question for both #motosky and #photography. I have this great Ulanzi X-Aircross tripod. It's travelled with me by motorcycle on several international trips. But now the tote bag is wearing out. I need one that lasts and that has strapping points. Recommendations?

Followup to my post about #kdenlive vs #finalcutpro. kdenlive ended up being fantastic. No crashes. (A mac install is supposed to be crash-prone, but that wasn't my experience.) It was actually quicker for me to edit in once I got used to it. And yeah, baby, #opensource. Will be continuing.

Without a doubt this RE Nirvik jacket is the best one I own. Well designed for airflow, warm in winter, doesn't show the dirt, CE2. Only problem, no waterproofing. Comes with a red jacket that you can put in the back pocket that makes me look like a camel as I can never fold it properly.

Eight and a half years ago, I met this amazingly determined and gorgeous woman. She's strong when I'm weak, thoughtful when I'm a boofhead, and — somehow — adores me. I said hey let's ride motorcycles, and she said ok and learned to ride. She's my companion, my best friend, my wife. I'm very lucky.

We rode two of these little Yamaha FZ150 motorcycles around Sri Lanka in January. They were great bikes. Light (128kg), reliable, and quick. Well, as quick as Sri Lanka gets. Modern version of the ones ubiquitous in Malaysia. Hmm...and we do need to see more of Asia. 🤔
