For two months now I have been grieving, and in my grief I have tried to reach out to other members of my community and make them understand that some of us are truly in pain. I don’t think I have been successful.

(Fandom etiquette is not institutional censorship. Quite frankly I’m offended that folks here take issue with me asking them to care about other fans, and meanwhile Amazon Prime gets to cut out queerness in GO after exploiting its queer fanbase for clout. THAT is actual censorship I am angry about.)

(To clarify what the final straw was for me: discussions in which I asked my fellow fans to be sensitive towards other grieving fans in our community in regards to what is widely shared w/out tags has been compared in separate vague posts by others to censorship & the Hays Code.)

But if I’m going to be painted that way anyway no matter how careful I am, there’s no point sticking around here anymore and spending so much time picking my words carefully.

Post-GO3, I’ve tried my best to be reasonable, sensitive, and articulate when discussing my grief and frustration. I wanted to speak up for other fans. And I guess I wanted to prove to you all that us GO3 dislikers have good reasons to feel the way we do, and we aren’t all vicious harassing bullies.

For years I carefully separated and tagged my fanworks containing controversial subject matter, even though it brought me joy, because I knew it was triggering to other fans. Why did I do this if the same courtesy won’t be extended to other hurt fans in return?

I’m upset that conversations in which I ask members of my community to be kind to their fellow fans and consider using the tagging etiquette system we’ve had for ages is painted as me demanding censorship. Meanwhile the big corporation that wiped out queer intimacy on our screens gets a pass.

I know it’s tacky to announce one’s departure, but think I’m done with Bluesky. I can’t do this anymore. I’m tired of trying to be patient and empathetic while I’m grieving only to have my words twisted and bad-faith assumptions made against me.

If the souls themselves are choosing this, what was up with that disembodied recorded voice saying “your soul is important to us” before the epilogue? And what are the odds that so many characters would end up reincarnated in the same neighbourhood in London in the modern day?

I interpreted the new universe as our own because the new one complies with our scientific theories about the creation of the universe (Big Bang, 13.8 billion years of development). The fictional Whickber Street also became the real Berwick Street.

tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 13/07/2026
But Aziraphale and Crowley didn’t advocate for them. They asked for universe with no angels or demons in it, and agreed when God reminded them that they would never exist in the new world. They didn’t express any concern over wiping out all other angels and demons along with themselves.

That would be a really fun idea! I recall that the Good Place did something similar with its afterlife. I wish we’d gotten something along those lines in GO3, but there’s nothing in the text to indicate that’s the case, sadly. Could be good fodder for a fix-it fic!

tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 13/07/2026
You’re right that serious topics should be treated sensitively. I wish I saw the same energy expressed in this conversation also directed at GO3 for showing dangerous subject matter, instead of at a fellow fan for using a word to describe what they saw on screen.

tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 13/07/2026
GO3 itself has triggered suicidal ideation among fans in our community. And yet other fans have been sharing GIFs and stills of triggering scenes (namely A/C sacrificing themselves and dissolving on screen) willy-nilly on social media.

Loni, FunkyEarthChild — I respect both of you and we’ve known each other a long time, so this is why I am saying this now, as an earnest plea (CW for discussion of suicide in the following replies):

tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 13/07/2026
But A/C specifically asked God to create a universe with “nothing ineffable.” Either God broke her word (in which case A/C did not get their final request and they sacrificed themselves for nothing), or Asanthony aren’t actually them, because how would reincarnation work in a mundane universe?

(This is a suggestion for fandom shorthand when talking about whether one thinks Asa/Anthony are the same characters as Aziraphale/Crowley or not)

I had to watch Asanthony on screen, but I don’t have to accept them in my own personal fanon if I do not want to. That’s all I can do now to cope with this canon ending. Tags and filter tools are so helpful with this. You’ve been using tags for your works, loni, which I really appreciate. 💚

For some of us, GO3 destroyed everything we loved in canon. The ability to choose and curate what we want our own versions of the story to look like in our fandom spaces is the only recourse we have left.
1311
tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 12/07/2026
With fan creations, we understand that they are made by our peers for our fan community. These works don’t carry the authority of canon, which is a lot harder to ignore. Coffeeshop AU fics aren’t my preference and are easy for me to avoid. But we are all forced to reckon w/ Asanthony in canon.
1311
tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 12/07/2026
Everyone is allowed to play as they wish, of course! But the canon GO3 humanverse triggers very painful emotions for a large portion of the fandom, and that wasn’t the case with our pre-GO3 fanmade AUs/headcanons. Things have changed in an unprecedented way and people are still actively grieving.

tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 10/07/2026
That’s so unfair — how can you be queerbaiting by just being yourself! I’m sorry that happened to you. And thank you for being so kind by reaching out and listening. 💚

As I mentioned before, some folks have been kind. But I think a few bad-faith actors on both sides have soured things a lot for us all. That’s not the kind of environment that’s conducive to healing, sadly.

tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
I recently expressed my grief/rage over GO3 as a queer person and some people on here determined I was acephobic because of that and blocked me en masse. That hurt, and made me feel more alone & unwelcome in my grief.

tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
I’ve tried to welcome discussion between the sides from time to time. But whenever I feel ready to be on Bluesky full time again, I see posts that remind me my viewpoint isn’t welcome, or bad-faith assumptions of why I feel the way I do.
170
tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
And healing doesn’t mean we’ll end up in a place where we’re happy with the ending. Some of us will never be okay with it. It’s also hard to heal divides in fandom when it seems others resent you for grieving.
290
tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
Sam got my feelings across well in their response but I thought I’d chip in: We waited for a promised ending for years, and some folks were in fandom for decades before the show. The ending we were counting on for all that time was ripped away from us. It’s going to take time to heal from that.
180
tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
I guess what I’m getting at is… to those coming from a place in fandom where to us it seems like you have everything (a canon ending you love), try to remember that some of us feel like we have nothing.
150
tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
Maybe these emotions aren’t logical. Maybe there doesn’t need to be an objective answer in this debate. But the feelings are real. The hurt is real. And even if some folks can’t understand it, we want our pain to at least be acknowledged, and not dismissed.
150
tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
To us, Asanthony are a reminder of something genuinely painful. Not only did canon destroy & replace A/C in our eyes, we now have to confront their replacements on a fandom-made monument that should be a site of comfort. And it’s not a tag we can block.
160
tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
To us, this bench has now become something of a gravesite. Our sentiments towards it are coming from a place of wounded love. Canon took almost everything from us, and this site is one of the very few things we have left of the characters we loved.
160
tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
So, to point to a recent example: the bench. Some folks got upset about some of us not wanting to see Asanthony quotes on the St James Park bench. But we don’t feel that way because we’re assholes or because we want to take something away from anyone.
160
tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
Some of those who enjoyed the ending have indeed been kind toward those who did not, which I appreciate! 💚 I think one thing I’d like is for other folks to not assume the worst of us, and to remember that there is real hurt here. We’re not hating the finale to spite anyone. We’re grieving.

I wouldn't say Aziraphale is the best character of all time, but he's in the top one.
Aziraphale looking peaceful, alive, and happy surrounded by his beloved books in his beautiful bookshop, as he should be

Yep. It sucks that some folks in fandom seem to have chosen the convenience of not having to see an opinion that makes them uncomfortable over the inconvenience of holding space for their fellow fans’ grief.

Some of us are lost. I just ask for those coming from a place of security with canon to give us grace as we find our way again.

tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 08/07/2026
I do understand that it’s frustrating and upsetting when someone disparages the thing you like. And of course no one should be insulting anyone! But… at least you have your source of comfort intact. Some of us don’t have that anymore. So… count your blessings, maybe.
1290
tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 08/07/2026
The thing we turned to for comfort has become a source of pain. It’s a very disorienting situation to be in, and not one we can move on from easily.

tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 08/07/2026
Well, maybe not nothing. We will always have our own imaginations, of course. That’s what fandom is. But there’s a big difference between fan creations and actual canon playing out onscreen. Our foundation has been wrecked.
2320
tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 08/07/2026
If you liked GO3 and are frustrated over other fans’ negative responses to it, well… you can always return to the finale and rewatch the canon scenes you love, right? Those of us who disliked it can’t do that. Canon is no longer a comfort for us. We have nothing.

I guess the thing is Asanthony have absolutely zero connection to the bench, and the bench holds such an emotional meaning to the whole fandom. It's impossible to just 'scroll away' or curate your feed on this one and a lot of people find Asanthony genuinely upsetting.

But in any case, I don’t think the finale needed to linger on Crowley’s depression era as long as it did, especially considering what a limited runtime it had. I love whump and it got hard to watch eventually.

tweedfeather @tweedfeather.bsky.social · 04/07/2026
Haha, as a finale disliker I was actually okay with Crowley being pathetic! For me it tracks with the Crowley we saw in s1, who just went to a pub to drink, cry, and give up after he thought Aziraphale died. My problem is that Crowley never got any comfort or healing after his pathetic era in s3

Poor Jesus. “Where are the scars? I had good carpenter’s hands.” 💔 Jesus really was so sweet and likeable in Good Omens. Wish we’d been able to get more time with him. Bilal Hasna played him with such warmth.

I agree. Even before the finale dropped and the worst came to pass, I thought the promo campaign was really out of touch. I probably should have listened to my gut then telling me something was off. Post-finale, it felt cruel for the promo to keep pretending this story was happy and romantic.
