in case anyone is wondering where ive been frankenstein (2025) has been driving me absolutely bananas. wip snippet of an essay im working on about it :] 1/5

a screenshot of text in a word processor. It reads as follows: In the 2025 film, he is tortured, yes, but above all else he is arrogant. His desire to create life is not a delicate mix of mental illness, grief, isolation, and fear, as it is in the 1818 novel. Instead this is a story of a man entitled to his wants, who will move heaven & earth and lie and steal and kill with his own hands- to create this life he so desires. Really the more I watched the more I could see it clearly: this is a story about the tragedies of a having a comically evil father.

Shelley’s Victor is wrought with ambitions of his own. His time spent pursuing this goal is solitary and frantic and even at times deeply shameful- and most importantly it is entirely self-imposed. His father is loving, his future is a wealth of possibility, his home is happy (save for the recent and unavoidable tragedy of illness that took the life of his near-angelic mother). He wants for naught, he is loved and respected and he has the prospect of a long and successful life laid out bare in front of him. But his mother does die. And the encompassing grief of that cannot be ignored. At least I thought it would be absolutely foolish to try and adapt Frankenstein with any level of fidelity and not in its own way showcase the grief of losing a parent, and of losing a child (but we’ll get to that a bit later). He has (almost) all anyone could ever ask for and yet he is overcome by this endless and internal need so lay bare the secrets of life. His ambitions are motivated in part by grief, but mostly by his internal desire to succeed.

not crediting this tumblr post bcause i wanna complain about something that is not ops fauly but its creasing me bad. NO! it doesnt imply that. it shows that while star trek in 2025 may desperately be trying to create compelling (HETEROSEXUAL) romance it isso puritain it fails to titillate at all!!

a screenshot of a tumblr post showing a photo of christopher pike from snw and kirk from tos. the post reads: I find it so funny that having Pike wear a black undershirt with the green wrap shirt implies that, it is the proper way to wear the uniform and that Kirk is wearing it like that for slut whore reasons

i gotta draw him in my not fem clothes now and i feel like im kinda doing this to him

the first 2 stages of a transition timeline meme. someone with long brown hair is being complimented by someone off screen who says "youre so pretty" they reply "thabks man" , then the same person is wearing a hoodie and is pleased by their flat chest, a thought bubble reads "epic"

the final 2 images of a transition timeline meme. the person from before has short hair and is lounging playing video games. in the final image he is laying down and typing on a laptop, he says "just a sec kitten, someone sent a meme in general" and a voice on the phone replies "you're so cool daddy! "
