My wife is getting close to the end of the latest draft of my novella. She got to his section and texted me from the other room, "Seriously, WTF." Victory formation.
Miriam rose toward the rafters. The limb of soaked clay and sinew broke apart as she climbed, falling away in clods that rained down and splashed into the dark water. Ripples spread across the floor as steady as breath.
Her bare body, marbled with green veins beneath spoiled skin, was more grotesque than anything I could have imagined. The right arm hung downward, a dislocated thing, tendrils uncoiling from her palm and bracing against the floor. Where the false limb had fallen away, a twisted nub showed through, bone jutting clean from the elbow like a snapped stalk.
Below her breasts, the sternum had split wide, ribs splayed like the mouth of a Venus flytrap. Inside, her organs sagged and shimmered, white and dancing with maggots, glistening like sausage left too long in the summer heat. She ended there. The legs were gone, torn clean away, nothing left but a spine raw and open to the air.
From that ruin, roots threaded upward through flesh and bone, a lattice dragging her higher. Miriam rose until her torso hovered in a tangled cradle, vines stretching out from every seam, blotting out the cross, suspending her in a web of living decay.
The Mother in the Mire.

Listen, you don't need AI. I am so mediocre at art. But you see that image? I made that. Yes it required a lot of sketching, and a bit of outlining references, but I made that. Don't be tricked into thinking you can't do things.

A speakers presentation description that reads: His book delivers practical frameworks for workplace AI that can be put to use immediately, whether you’re an early adopter, a cautious observer, or a skeptic questioning the hype. He shares how organizations including stitch Fox, GitHub, and JPMorgan Chase, are using AI to unlock creativity, reimagine teams, and build cultures of innovation—all while maintaining human oversight, ensuring transparency in AI decisions, and embedding their values into AI systems from the start.

I’d rather gnaw off my own leg than train your AI model. There’s a certain amount of sudo-hazing and 80 hour weeks you have to be hardened by to be good at this job. Your plagiarism machine could never.

I assume that when people get to this part of the novella and I reveal that the 6'10", jacked Black man in Mississippi is gay, I’ll have some venom sent my way.
Excerpt from a WIP horror novella, that reads: “How could I forget the great Thomas, come down here to follow a preacher out into the swamps.” He set me down and patted my shoulders. “I am so happy to see you again. I prayed for you, you know? Told my partner all about you. Gnawed his ear off about how I hoped you found what you needed out there and didn’t get consumed by the pursuit of it.”

Getting spicy up in here...
Speaking of community impact, let's chat about the elephant in the room: if AI can do everybody's job, how the fuck do we pay our bills and feed our families?

So why is AI bad? Simple, it converts human labor and creativity into private profit without consent, shifts environmental and economic costs onto a public that didn't ask for it, threatens jobs and professional development, follows a familiar pattern of speculative tech hype (remember how blockchain was going to change modern computing?), and weakens the cognitive skills it claims to enhance. It's a bad bargain, dudes.
