Widow’s Bay started out so great. Funny and mysterious with great performances. Then those last three episodes really petered out. With the truly terrible slasher episode seemingly shoved in via reshoots as the following episodes never once mention it.

Outside a few stand out images, Christopher Nolan’s partnership with cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema has been rather bland (from staging to clarity). The scenes and moments are great but individual shots are, at best, adequate. But I don’t think we’re ready to have that conversation just yet.

In Nolan’s Odyssey, there is a death of a character (who had their own dedicated montage) that absolutely ruined me. But because the movie doesn’t allow moments to breathe, the death is immediately tossed off in literal seconds for an unrelated conversation. It’s an unforgivable mistake by Nolan.

The MCU is a giant tv series. They do the exact same thing in Doctor Who, Arrowverse, and Game of Thrones. Dozens of characters with all their own plot lines. Hell even daytime soaps are more complicated. Not to mention this is how comic books work. But for some reason the MCU gets all the hate…
