Speaking of 1982... and since there's no #Brewers #baseball until next week, a little reminiscing. (My dad got me the expensive ticket.) #ThisIsMyCrew
Two tickets to the 1982 ALCS in Milwaukee, games 3 and 5. I was in college there and then, and my two months old daughter was with me at the games.

Finished this last night & loved its style, quirkiness, projection, lonely characters, & empathy for even terrible people (that is, all of us). W/o my @twolinespress.com membership, I wouldn't know this writer. Ordered 2 more of her books from them before I'd even finished this collection.

The Last Canterbury Tales

Translated by Scott Nicolay

Shiny, mostly black, cover of a cobblestone (?) road with maybe church windows belonging to the building at the back, a woman likely on a pilgrimage approaches, the scene is duplicated.
Because it's shiny, a lamp and hands holding a phone taking this picture are reflected in it.

Books have always been my friends, but now they've started to arrive just when I need them. Thanks to @eveninghouse.bsky.social for carrying this book. As soon I saw it on their site, I knew it'd become mine.
A book with a black cover and white letters reading Queens of the Abyss/ Lost Stories from the Women of the Weird/ Edited by Mike Ashley/British Library of the Weird sits on a brick hearth. Its illustration in black and orange centers a woman with piercing eyes wearing a hood over her longish hair. She is flanked by two women whose faces are only partially shown. They also seem to be wearing hoods. Above their heads are distinct hands and what seem to be interlocked fingers.

At top right of the brick hearth are silver and purple Mardi Gras doubloons and two king cake babies resting their heads on a gold bean. It's Carnival time, y'all!

Two books I ordered from Evening House Books that I'd never heard of before going through their curated site. Queen of the Abyss (weird short stories) and The Last Canterbury Tales (a novel, but I'm guessing made up of short stories in a way).
