Yeah, basically - it gave a reason to turn it into something interesting, as a joke and as metacommentary for game design and worldbuilding. Writing is cheap(er) and quicker. There are actually quite a few scenes which exist for this reason. Something to solve, an empty part of the world to fill etc

The moral of this being - game design and game writing is sometimes a lot of random problem-solving, so funny situations and scenes sometimes get made as there's a dumb practical problem to solve. No interior map? Obvious door? Well, turn it into a joke and give a Thought as a reward.

Haha, the Depot Door! I know why it exists as well, how and why the interaction and Check and Thought came into being. I can reveal that secret: because it's a very noticeable door in a specific spot, but we didn't have an interior map at the time and no time to make one. :P

A woeful trend. As I've noticed it happen elsewhere, I was surprised when a couple years ago Tallinn apparently had some bench initiative, because they added new benches everywhere at seemingly random places. Not only at central locations, just benches on the side of a road or another.
