Ex-Christian pandeist. Still exploring Christianity out of fear of Jesus’s threat of eternal punishment and empathy for family agonized by the idea of me there.

what about terry pratchett? Googling his name and "allegations" is not bringing anything up for me.

How am I in my mid 30s and still pulling an occasional all-nighter when I procrastinate on my work? This is college brainrot behavior. Why can I not do what I know is better for me??

The degree to which I have my life together is directly proportional to my Wordle streak. My current streak is 2 days.

I've liked everything that I've read by CSL so I imagine I would enjoy it

But, uh, books do that too... But for most people books aren't that addicting to the point that it is genuinely difficult to get someone's attention so frequently. And if it is that bad for someone, then I think books would be seen negatively for that specific person.

I'm only 45 minutes into Pilgrim's Progress, but I gotta say it's a little too on the nose. Like if you told an allegory of baseball with a main character named "Batter" who used a "stick" to hit a "round object".

There is only 3 types of cause-and-effect that are conceivable. 1) Determined 2) Uniformly random 3) Random but within a determined non-uniform distribution If dualism is true, surely it is (1), but maybe (3).

All I want is for there to be a deeply interested researcher who is neither for or against Christianity. I have such a hard time trusting the conclusions of Christians who have a moral obligation to spread the gospel and atheists who come across as obviously biased against it in their writings.

I'm officially committing to a deep dive into historical critical study of "Hell". Here's one of the spreadsheets I've started during the research phase.
a spreadsheet with columns for different translations of "Sheol" across the years. In view are the Masoretic text, LXX, and Vulgate.

post I had originally quoted. From @puppermoder.bsky.social

It says "Holy fuck how many oz books were there"

I ended up getting the entire Oz collection on sale for like $5 and listened to 7 of them. I think my favorite lesser known one was "Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz", which is book 4. The Valley of Voe was very interesting.

This just seems like another case of "this has already been concluded by past fathers so we are just doing our best to meet it by redefining words from their normal usage" Love is better defined as "intending the good of another" regardless of whether it happens to deprive of joy.

Baxter Williams @trustbelieveknow.com · 21/09/2026
Perhaps they mean that anytime I find joy in giving up my time or identity for another, it's not really love because I have a self-interested aspect to it??

The key Catholic argument is that there is always some amount of suffering because love always involves "self-giving" or losing some of yourself. But I just don't buy that self-giving is accurately characterized as suffering in *all* cases.

What is stopping people from saying "Jesus wasn't actually endorsing a future kingdom of heaven. He was just establishing God's dominance using the expectations of the day."?

I don't call them more important I guess, but I certainly think each vote is more impactful there. If we should apportion our energy to things we have more control over, we should apportion more energy to them.

What if the ascension was placed deliberately in the narrative before Paul had his revelation in order to discredit Paul's authority?
000
Baxter Williams @trustbelieveknow.com · 21/09/2026
This is apparently the orthodox Catholic position. Weird implications for heaven obviously, but I'm ignoring that for now. Just thinking about it in terms of mortal life.

Luke 17:20-21 is pretty crazy. Saying that no one will be able to point to the kingdom in the sense of observable things.

Reading all the gospels again to make a parallel reading of every statement made by Jesus that is plausibly about final judgment and I swear this is the first time I've seen this verse. Crazy depiction of Jesus, without parallel elsewhere.

I've had a bunch of Catholics tell me that a grave sin is only when you do something with the full awareness that it is morally wrong. But Socrates says no man desires evil. So either Socrates is wrong, or Catholic Hell is empty.

Confirmation bias is genuinely helpful in religion. But those archeologists and geologists looking for the exodus and the flood had their worlds absolutely rocked.

I considered (and am still considering UU) mainly because I truly think Jesus didn't believe trinitarianism. I don't think Jesus believed universalism, but it is possible I suppose.

Chaos and it's unfair consequences are the price paid by existence for the ability for multiple souls to exist with the capacity to love each other. That is pandeism. We endure because love is so great, both to receive and more importantly to give.

Perfect justice should make one feel joy, not despair. If you feel despair at people being annihilated or going to Hell, it's because it doesn't seem like perfect justice.
