It really does. Not that it’s the end-all, I certainly will get a book recommended by a friend regardless of cover. And classics, I sorta love how simple many of them are. But new books on a shelf (or online), they’ve got to jump out at you!

Loran for sure! 🏅 His best friend is a wolf, he can shape-shift into a wolf himself to run with the pack, and he can speak to other animals as well. He has zero conventional magical ability (unlike his twin Jerin), but anything related to animals, he’s a natural!

Well so far it's been all the fun parts. I love the writing, the creating! It was a lot of fun expanding the story and exploring my characters in more depth. The next part will be challenging...editing, formatting the book, things like that. But I enjoy it all really!

That’s a good question. They’re characters that grab your heart, make you want to root for them. And they’re complex characters…the “good” ones have dark aspects and make errors in judgement, the darker characters are conflicted and have some good in them. And yep, here’s my book! 🙂

For younger readers in particular, I’d pick Dragons of Autumn Twilight, by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. I fell in love with the characters at an early age, and it began a lifetime of fantasy reading for me. Simply unforgettable characters!!

Hmm. I would say a big one without giving away any spoilers, is that in book two there will be some romance storylines introduced (between characters who may or may not have been obviously interested in each other in book one…). Book two is a bit more of a new-adult romantasy (with 🏳️‍🌈 rep!).

Totally agree!!! For me, it’s all about the characters. If they’re believable and interesting, I’m content. If I can root for them and end up falling in love with them, that book will end up in my collection forever.

Makes sense. I mean, I really make so little anyway on the paperbacks. It's almost criminal what small authors get paid for their books. But I guess that's a whole other issue. I'm just happy people are reading my book for now! But I do need to learn more about the business side of it.

Yep, I went through the same company. In spite of doing the keywords and such, it really is a needle in a haystack for someone to find a small author’s book. So it’s wild that it happened in another country. Too cool. And I didn’t even consider different pricing overseas. Interesting.

Ahh yes, I totally agree! I don’t buy on Amazon at all, and I try to encourage others to shop Bookshop.org and other similar sites. Hopefully you can find something that ships to where you live. That would be neat to have a reader in Austria! 🙂

I’m really curious about that also! Nope, no ad campaigns overseas. My book is available in online bookstores all over the world, it’s one of the features of the company I went through for distribution. But they’d have to dig through millions of other books to find mine.
