Whenever I come back to PA it is imperative to stop at Sonny's Italian Deli. We lived in Limerick for about 6 years and it was the absolute best. Having these hoagies nearby was part of the equation. The sports memorabilia on the walls is an absolute time capsule. The food, still delicious. 🤘

Made it to Philly suburbs! DC traffic was chill. KC drove so I slept in the car for like an hour while the Rush playlist was flowing. Ate cheesesteaks at Collegeville Bakery, admiring walls of portraits, including The Hitman. Watched Birds win 🦅, opened Xmas presents with nephews. Solid day. 🤘

It's so nice to see that the #Flyers have some stability in goal (at least so far) this year. Was tough winning (& watching) games last year when the other team would routinely score 4 or 5 goals. Hope Vladar & Ersson are able to keep it going over the long haul. Zegras seems like a solid piece too.

This was my first #tenkara setup, circa 2009. Tenkara USA Iwana 11" 5:5 (more like 6:4), a furled line on one of those old school blue spools... remember those? And a mint tin filled with Elk hair caddis and most likely Copper Johns. Caught so many damn trout, bet it still would today... 🤘

It usually happened when I'd remove the hook. Maybe squeezing a bit too hard, IDK. I used to catch them on spinning tackle so the treble hooks were a little harder to pop off than a fly might be.

There are a handful of flies I feel I am competent at tying. This is one, a weighted honryu kebari, a pattern introduced to me by a fly tying tutorial by John Pearson when he was creating Discover Tenkara content. A top 3 or 4 pattern in my fly box... 🤘 #tenkara #flyfishing #flytying

I love the Yakoda Purple Reign or Mountain Dew. They're basically minimalist Rainbow Warriors. For me, those are "buy not tie", but could be easily tied as well.

Kiwi ties some great flies. I used to tie (and fish) his "royal sakasa kebari" quite a bit. That hotspot, probably similar to the bubble is an attention getter. I think I need to get some more of his patterns back into my tenkara fly box.

I'm definitely in a fishing rut. I work in ecommerce, so this time of year is a no go for extracurriculars. Everyday is "Black Friday!" So I'm going to close my eyes and think back to #flyfishing in late May and early June in the Wisconsin Driftless. Yeah, so much better. That'll do for now... 🤘

Yeah, I used to live in Norristown and fished Valley in the park from the old dam up to Chesterbrook all the time. Fun fishery. Wasn't super crowded then, especially in the winter, but that was 10+ years ago...

New Hampshire. The highlight of my #flyfishing season in 2024. I had never fished "The Granite State," but was welcomed to the streams of the White Mountains by many eager residents. A brook trout lover's destination for sure. Definitely somewhere I will visit again. Live Free or Die! 🤘
