But their pro scouting is still a shambles. Almost everybody Getz pursued as a major free agent or trade target completely shat the bed. Even Hicks/Sandlin was something of a mixed bag at best.

They’ve clearly made MASSIVE strides with drafting and development. If their last rebuild had second tier prospects like Cordell, Sheets, Clarkin, etc. turn into real contributors like Antonacci and Meidroth, that era would have gone very differently.

Yeah, like, even if Vargas maintains All-Star form, do we expect repeat performances from guys like Meidroth and Peters? Will Martin or Burke ever be effective for a full season? Can Shane Smith come back and contribute? Too many X-factors to say this is the beginning and not the apex.
