Oh and here's the Nebula link for the medieval zombie LARPing - it'll undoubtedly show up on her YT channel sooner or later nebula.tv/videos/berna...

* OK, I think she's super cute too, but the woman has skills and enthusiasm, and I respect the craft. Also, she helped me to appreciate the art and craft in fashion and costuming, which also helped me appreciate my last ex (who also excels at art and craft) in time for us to get together.

Yup, definitely basic operant behaviour, but even a little more precision re what they want is interesting. (Sudden flashback to experienced teen babysitter me explaining to first-time parents their 1-yr-old is screaming like that bc he's *tired*)

Apparently there are some mega-communicator pets who manage to chain together some pretty sophisticated utterances, alongside many more apparently relishing a bunch of additional labels for "things". "Gimme meat treat" vs "ball" is pretty cool.

There are the "button-press" gadgets used by some pets, but their best use is by pets who can use the audio cues to go "Oi! Human!" when said humans are too clueless to pick up the subtler aspects of their gestural language: archive.ph/oG8KS (WashPo summary). Not so great for orders the other way

Nah, only arsekissers would turn up to that kind of BS anyway. Or people too chicken to be perceived as "sending a message" (who's going to ask when the fucker is gone?) If it's during work time, work. If it's after hours, you have important personal things to do, like buying toilet paper.

Ppl I know who swear by them say that the plug-in kind (from known brands) are more solidly built and last forever. Much more powerful buzz than any rechargeable (altho the latter continue to improve). One "classic" plug-in for the toolkit might be good for backup and/or extra/long-lasting power?

Trix @trixtah.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
My vote is "both" - like tools of the trade for pros in general. Woodworkers use battery-powered tools for portability/flexibility, but plug-in can't be beaten for power + reliability. Same for vibes. Rechargeable is great, but powered are *strong* and can def save the day from tired batteries

SDx never visited aunt except when she moved into nursing home at age 80 a year ago - FOR the will chat. 🤯 Aunt has her own adult Dx and two grandkids. My mum and I are like, "THEY come first, ffs". Anyway, good luck to your relatives once you start treating them according to their ACTUAL merits.

Reminds me of a sitch in my fam. Eldest aunt has two (averagely attractive) step daughters. They never lived as a fam; their dad passed away 10+ years ago after 20+ years w my aunt. 50% of his assets willed to SDx, rest to aunt (his *wife*). SDx recently "asked" if aunt has them in HER will. WTAF

Dude reading from phone: This was restaurant of the year two years running from 201x. Oh, you'll hate this, this was a wine bar... Her: But I *love* wine bars! Me: [literally choking into napkin] (Btw, this is commentary with love - dude is 500% more smooth than I was at his age)

What I liked? Cast, other than AS - great. (AS's acting is OK, he obv loves the char - but just no). Production design, awesome. Throuple jokes, entertaining at times (but drag on). Sanctuary Moon stuff - love it. Guarathin's backstory - only addition that was worthwhile. More ppl reading the books.

Finally finished S1 of the #Murderbot show, and honestly, I'm still disappointed. TBH, Skarsgard never got me to the WOSD point. The Preservation Aux crew continued with the TSTL vibe. Story changes seemed pointless. Character changes f-ing annoying. Last ep w MB's "wipe" - WTAF.

First New Year's that I lived in Australia, it was 42 deg and I drove a 1970's classic car (no aircon lol) to friends an hour away in the dry countryside. With windows up, I nearly expired in the oven-like heat. Windows down, at 110 km/h, like being in the blast of a 777 jet's exhaust. Never again 🥵

I could actually rewrite it in PS based on the cunning method used in the VBS, but I can't be arsed rn. There're other ancient VBSes with obscure methods foreign to .Net - many of those, I can't figure out, even when they work.

BTW, not a critique of @joshtaylor.bsky.social - his writing covers the technical aspects well, thus highlighting this aspect to someone who is v likely to get it. Haven't yet seen anyone else specifically questioning Telstra on whether there was ONLY one GNSS source for the network.
100
Trix @trixtah.bsky.social · 10/07/2026
@joshtaylor.bsky.social - re Telstra, no journos have stated the NTP standard mandates minimum of 3 stratum 0 time sources. Per quotes, Telstra implies there was only one? NTP is *very* resilient IF it's configured correctly. Obv investigation underway, but Telstra quotes imply it wasn't correct?

Trix @trixtah.bsky.social · 08/07/2026
It's national infrastructure! David L. Mills only passed away a couple of years ago - he must be rolling in his grave. Well, if it's true there was only one stratum zero system, HEADS will be rolling very soon (deservedly so, frankly; I would just quit if I were responsible).
000
Trix @trixtah.bsky.social · 08/07/2026
How tf does Telstra have just one (1) GNSS "node" acting as their strata 0 NTP (time) source? The NTP standard requires three (or more) sources to compute the reference time via various calculations. www.rfc-editor.org/info/rfc5905.... I insist on three for our semi-govvie environment!

HALP my lemon tree is about to bust loose with about umpteen bazillion end-of-summer (in the antipodes) ripe lemons, and I can't believe I never thought of this approach to dealing with the surplus. I might also zest about 1/4 of a bazillion of said lemons and freeze that too.
