Live events have become so expensive it’s not even worth it anymore.

Friends from Denver, Dawkins and Chef Cris (now living near Tahoe) are visiting this weekend. Should be here around 3pm. Dinner will be chopped smoked pork butt (in the smoker for 2 hours already). I will make some cold slaw, refried beans, pico and homemade tortillas for pork tacos.

The entire condo smelled of crazy hot peppers.

Trip @tripg3.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

From growing the ghost pepper to fermenting them for a few weeks. This morning we finally made the hot sauce. It is naturally sweet and not AF!

First time in recent history I can remember both my favorite NHL teams are in first place 🥇 I don’t expect this to last but Colorado will have a great season 😂 #GoAvs

I didn’t need two pork shoulders but I couldn’t pass up the price! I am pretty sure they were marked the wrong price but I don’t mind 😂 17 pounds for $18🎉🙌

Fermenting ghost peppers

That actually sounds fun. I would take the winter park train into the mountains and ride the trails leaf peeping.

Caramelized onions take a long time! Now that it is soup season I will have to make French onion soup. But I will cheat on the caramelized onions by throwing them in a crock pot on low overnight.

I get it… there are some days I wish I didn’t eat so much spicy foods.

Even the jalapeño peppers this year were crazy hot. But soooo good!

Quick pickle in mason jars. They will stay in the fridge for a few months but they never last that long.

Walked around downtown this weekend and stopped by Batch.

Trip @tripg3.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Have to use all these peppers we grew! Made a batch of pickles. 3 habanero, onion and garlic pickles and one jar with shallots, garlic and ghost pepper pickles. Ghost pepper fermenting on the counter. Should be ready in about two weeks.

Trip @tripg3.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Harvested another batch of ghost peppers (still 50+ on the plant 😐). Going to dehydrate them for the winter. Maybe make a chili powder.

So I went and tried to start the jeep in the garage and the battery is dead as a doornail. The garage that was scheduled to be closed for 3-4 weeks is now at 3 months and the new ETA on reopening is now November 🤬 🤷‍♂️🖕

Realized that when we’re moving to Vancouver. We had kept 500-600 CDs, 250+ DVDs and had absolutely no way of playing them. They were all donated to goodwill 🤷‍♂️😂😢 I loved my movie and CD collection

Jason added a chopped ghost pepper to his bowl of soup. 🍲 About ten minutes later he came back to the kitchen and said thank god he didn’t touch his pee pee but made the mistake of blowing his nose before washing all the capsaicin off his hands 😂 now his nose/face is on fire 🤭

I’m there with you! Tried to grow out a big flowing beard a few times and instead I get the Santa style fluff bubble on my chin 😐🤷‍♂️🤣🎅 But I will say your beard is looking really good 😉

Jason isn’t feeling 100% might have a cold or mild flu 🤦‍♂️ So I’m making a spicy split pea and bacon soup (didn’t have ham but had extra bacon). Should be ready in about 45 minutes when he gets off his conference call. Red pieces are carrots Orange pieces are habanero 😈
