my full piece for black romance book fest 2025 🩷

a digital art piece of two Black women, one human and the other a fairy, in a field. the human woman has long braids in a black-pink gradient and is wearing a warm pink dress with ribbons at the shoulders. She is lying with her eyes closed and her head on the fairy’s lap, smiling as purple-pink butterflies land on her head and raised hand. The fairy is has yellow-and-pink gradient wings, and is wearing a light purple dress. She is also smiling with her eyes closed as she gently pinches her girlfriend’s cheek. More butterflies flutter around them, and branches with pink flowers arch above them. In the foreground is a flower bush with pale purple roses. There are mountains on the horizon.

Hi I’m Earyn, a herpetologist and science communicator. I’m also an original co-organizer of #BlackBirdersWeek. We started this initiative back in 2020 to protest the silence of our fellow non-Black scientist around the rampant police brutality against the Black community.

Why are all the "stable" jobs soul sucking and draining and the "fun" ones or ones you're passionate about pay like shit with no benefits like health insurance?

You can act intellectually superior about those poor rubes bothering to help fundraising Palestinians all you want. Me, I had a video call earlier in the year with one of those accounts: a mother in Gaza, her kids in the background trying to play like kids in a fucking crater. I know where I stand

Some unfinished drawings I never posted from 2019 of Heavenly Bodies looks as art history references. Rip to Chadwick, I know he would've nailed this year's theme

Unfinished illustration of Zendeya wearing her Heavenly Bodies Met Gala outfit portrayed as Eugène Grasset's 1896 lithograph of Joan of Arc.

Unfinished illustration of Chadwick Boseman wearing his Heavenly Bodies outfit shown as Louis XIV in 'Portrait of Louis XIV in Coronation Robes (1701)' by Hyacinthe Rigaud

Idk why being an asshole about bisexuals existing is trendy and cool again??? Y'all can't bring back something else like affordable housing?????

010 0

Khay @trinidaddy.bsky.social · 26/04/2025

Also many bisexuals aren't even out here in these streets. We're busy pining over someone of whatever the fuck gender and NOT doing anything to try to initiate a relationship or hook up with that person. Like get a fucking hobby.

Khay @trinidaddy.bsky.social · 26/04/2025

Being biphobic because you're pissed we're fucking or dating whatever gender you're mad at us for fucking and dating is so weird to me. YOU don't have to date or fuck them. WE are doing it. Weird ass mfs.

I do hope there's youngins out there who are not relying on ai to write and read for them!!! That would be great! Idk but I also don't work with kids and gen z so what I hear about that generation is from the internet. Maybe there's hope for the future????

Khay @trinidaddy.bsky.social · 26/04/2025

I guess i was wondering what will be my generation's boomer needing computer help version when i'm older but I'm already seeing younger gen z and gen alpha struggle with computer literacy and other types of literacy so I'm a bit worried for the future.

Khay @trinidaddy.bsky.social · 26/04/2025

Tbh it doesn't matter what job I go to, Boomer coworkers will always need my or some other millennial's help to figure out how to do something on the computer.

I guess i like the idea of being a public librarian bc i get to interact with people and help people without trying to fucking sell them some shitty product. I like helping people??

020 0

Khay @trinidaddy.bsky.social · 18/04/2025

I thinking after selling my own art and merch, i don't hate customer service and i dont hate interacting with strangers. I hate doing it for companies and corporations and dealing with terrible customers that I can't tell to fuck off lol or even like set any boundaries whatsoever

Khay @trinidaddy.bsky.social · 18/04/2025

I know you can do many things with a mlis but i want to be a public librarian. Only a public librarian

Khay @trinidaddy.bsky.social · 18/04/2025

I guess I can try to figure out a kind of job that pays well and helps out a community. And I can make and help with programs?? Idk lol

110 0

Khay @trinidaddy.bsky.social · 18/04/2025

But I have to prioritize other shit rn. I'd like even a library assistant job but those are always part time and pay terribly. And if they're not, I won't be hired with no experience lol

100 0

Khay @trinidaddy.bsky.social · 18/04/2025

Also maybe paying for a masters is a bad idea bc librarian positions are hella competitive and don't always pay well in the beginning. All the librarians I spoke to tell me to go for it!! And I want to!!!

Khay @trinidaddy.bsky.social · 18/04/2025

I still want a MILS. I still want to be a librarian. Sadly, now is the worst time to go to school for it. 😭

If insta wasn't the only social media most of my friends used, i'd delete it by now. Tbh I don't need it for my business bc tbh I don't get traffic or anything from there. Tbh i think i've gotten more followers from vending irl at markets and cons than social media.
