I think what he is saying - and perhaps this is tomato/tomahto - is that if people acted like Christians these would be the policies we’d have. I think he’s more calling out the hypocrisy than saying to base the laws on one’s religion.

Something that is lost a little in this whole debacle is that, yes, the board has to sign some checks for sure, but Nancy needs to do some recruiting to get players in. Does he have decent European swag? Celtic is always attractive, but are players going to want to come in to this situation?
