My quickest-take on #GoldenAxe pending a proper writing is that for a game I've played maybe twice in a real arcade and thrice in emulation over the last 37 years (I did GA2 for Extra Life 2018), its animated adaptation was quite fun and amazingly well-casted. I finally got my retro corner cleaned and set up in my garage after I had to clean everything else out and rework the wall storage. Fired up the PSX and took a spin on my ~25 year old Xenogears save. I had to burn a copy of disc 2 to check though because my original is lost, as is the case somehow.

The problem with "putting your thumb on the scale" is that you become part of the narrative too, and I think this guy is starting to realize how stupid the whole "fake news" thing is.

See, Americans have always had a distrust for two things, the media, and politicians. It doesn't mean they still don't watch the media or vote for politicians, but they're not taken at face value due to their symbiotic relationship. Enter Donald Trump, this self-styled "political outsider" who also claims to have beef with how the media covers him, so he's going to destroy that relationship between media and government. That sounds cool, after all, the deeper that relationship goes, the risk you get state-run media propaganda, which up until MAGA, was frowned upon as "communist shit" by conservatives.

But because Trump is a man who has that symbotic relationship with the media on his own, all he did was just consolidate the politician side unto himself and make it all about him. Which works when you control the media outright, and he wants to, but when you don't, you just become part of the cogs. Everytime he farts, wire news runs to cover it. He denied it, despite supplying it, and they report on his denial, frustrating him so much that they're even covering him farting that he doubles down. THAT'S RIGHT, I FARTED, I SHIDDED LIKE NO ONE ELSE HAS EVER SHIDDED BEFORE, THE BEST SHID, STREAKS DOWN MY PANTS, NO ONE STREAKS LIKE I DO and so they report on that, why did you do it sir, what could you have done differently, and this cycle keeps going because he does not know how to stop. He has to have the last word with the media, and doesn't care if it's positive or negative so long as it's on him.

I was able to buy a refurb Steam Deck last week during the Spring Sale, and it has been amazing thus far. I immediately installed SRWY and SRW30, as well as a few other games from my backlog I want to finish. The screen is bright, the controls are pretty good, and it's a well-polished machine.

This week's #StarfleetAcademy makes an interesting point about machine learning, in that you can't just "turn it on" and expect it to just do all the things it should do without making a ton of mistakes because it has no understanding of why you wouldn't do something. You have to teach it.

#StarfleetAcademy Episode 6 "Come, Let's Away" I liked the core concept of this episode, but I still unfortunately just don't like Nus Braka. It's not because of Paul Giamatti, he plays the part absolutely amazing. I just don't think he or that whole big-bad apperatus was needed after episode one.
