I’d rather have Tolle at his cost over the next 6 years than Skubal at $50m over 8 yrs, and spend the money on bats. Less wear and tear and still peaking. Skubal is a year or two from the Gerrit Cole trajectory. He’s 30yo next year.

There’s very little available in free agency and they don’t have depth in minors to get offensive difference makers. I’d target Brandon Lowe, move Mead to DH and trade Duran. If not Lowe, play Mead at 2b and try for Seiya Suzuki. But none of the options are JD in 2018.

They need more SP depth. All their options for next year were on the IL this year. I’d sign or trade for 2-3 SP5 options who have options for flexibility. Skubal is not realistic and it’s a cost that prevents improving the offense. Bennett won’t get you a masher, just another Duran/Durbin type.
