TUFA was founded in 1966 as the Association of the Teaching Staff of Trent University and became the certified bargaining agent for academic staff at the University in 1979.

Today, OCUFA is meeting with Ontario MPPs to discuss the serious threats facing our education sector. Ontario provides its universities with the lowest amount of total provincial funding per-domestic full-time equivalent (FTE) student in Canada, and it’s not close.

Bill 33 threatens the autonomy and quality of Ontario’s public colleges and universities. Instead of fixing chronic underfunding, it adds red tape and gives the government more control.
