We had to investigate this beautiful phenomenon.

This is a SMALL version of the largest JWST image released so far—of IC 348, a star-forming region about 1,000 lightyears away. Open up the image and marvel in the incredible beauty even in our galactic neighbourhood. This is what it looks like when stars are born.

From the source: "A star-forming region. It is blanketed in thick clouds of gas and dust, millions of kilometres across, that form swirling patterns. Bright stars are scattered throughout the clouds, with the densest cluster situated in the centre of the scene. Each is crowned with six long points created by the optics of the telescope’s mirrors. In the upper right, a couple of hidden stars blast out long, glowing jets of material."

I remember him talking about that at Wonderfest this year. He is really nice and answered all kinds of questions for us and our viewers. He visited our suite and sat down for a chat with HTM.

I see this all the time though. The concept is always better than the final product. Just look at the Ambassador class.

It fits in a little better with the aesthetic of the Enterprise. This looks more like something between the NX and the Enterprise. I also see those Kelvin looking nacelles. Why not bridge that gap?

I photographed the Elephant's Trunk nebula over the last 3 nights. The dark nebulosity and sharp structures were very fun to process. #astrophotography #photography #space #astronomy

The Elephant Trunk Nebula shot from a wider view. 5 hours each of Sulfur, Hydrogen and Oxygen data on a 2600 mm camera using astronomik filters.

Actually, I'm on episode 22 of season 3 and it's much more enjoyable now. I only saw the show when it was on tv in the 90s. After 35 years I'm finally watching each series in it's entirety.

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.

Yes. That's how stories work. You make stuff up and it becomes part of the story. Canon is what the writers write. It's what the actors act out. It's whatever the people who control and produce the story say it is. It's ALL made up.
