Quite. You could substitute the UAE for a number of other countries that now own a lot of stuff here. Oliver Bullough’s been on this beat for years. Have you read this? www.worldofbooks.com/en-gb/produc...

The Football Governance Act has a thing called ODSE requirements, which is an updated fit & proper test and ongoing I think. As part of the Act & on failing ODSE requirements, the IFR can remove owners

Sure I’m (obviously) not a lawyer so I defer to anyone who is, about this. I was more struck by the story as highlighting (again) the depths of cynicism their ownership / directors have gone to.

I think handing back medals is dumb but yes if everyone’s handing back medals, of course Arteta should too. He’s going to be asked if / what he knew, plenty. And he’s got to answer.

Do you have any idea how aggressive City have been towards investigative journalists for the past 10 years? They are almost as notorious as Abramovich for this. Read a bit about Nick Harris & Ian Herbert, for example.

What do you think’s happening here? The airline business is notoriously low margin, as a cursory reading shows. They don’t have the cash to go on a legal wild goose chase. If you’re implying the UAE government is going to sue the PL, that’s been going on for a decade already. This changes nothing.

The committee, as far as their report states, made no judgement about the trustworthiness of the UAE govt or Royal Family. You are conflating ADUG with them. That may not be unreasonable. But the commission HAS NOTHING TO SAY ABOUT THIS. So you’re just spouting shit again.
000
Treads @treads.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
The commission also did not make any sort of claim about Etisalat or Aabar, because they also have no ownership in City. They are sponsors. City’s owners lied about the nature of these sponsorship deals. That is the point that was litigated.

Treads @treads.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
It explicitly states in the PL statement that City misled their auditors. There is no claim or implication whatsoever that their auditors were complicit. Again: try reading before parroting utter nonsense.

Treads @treads.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
They said City’s leadership, including the owner ADUG, have lied. They have not accused the sponsors, including Etihad, of anything. Because they have no ownership of the football club. They have concluded that Etihad’s sponsorship deal with ADUG - AS REPORTED BY ADUG - is bullshit. Learn to read.

Honestly what planet are you on? What do you think’s been happening for the past 10 years? Everyone is lawyered up to fuck, and has been for a very long time. Nobody is scared of City’s legal team any more. They were paid many tens of millions to eat shit in the most humiliating way possible.

Treads @treads.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Lol. It was the lawyer that appointed the commission who described himself as an Arsenal fan. His name is Murray Rosen and he’s the chair of the PL judiciary panel. This was already extensively litigated and rejected. You can learn this in less than 2 minutes, but go ahead with the bullshit

Morning gents, I’m off the obvious topic but here but what are your thoughts about what’s happened to Aaron Ramsdale? He’s apparently now 4th choice at Southampton & training with the U21s. It seems completely mental to me, he’s surely demonstrated he’s at least mid-table prem quality?

Yep he’s in the cult pantheon alongside Kanu. Just looked and they actually had very similar numbers: Kanu P198 G44 A38, Leo P174 G36 A34. They couldn’t have gone about it much more differently, but beyond the numbers they both relied on ridiculous technique over pace. I’ll miss him plenty.

Attackers would start trying to bounce the ball off defenders on purpose. And defenders would drop even deeper to try to stop that happening.
000
Treads @treads.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
It’s a law because defending players get hit by the ball a lot, as they are trying to get in its way. And plenty of the time they have no control over where that ball goes. If you allow a ricochet off a defender to an offside attacker who then scores to stand, it makes a mockery of the offside law.

Sure I get that in theory, and KSE cleaned house ruthlessly when they didn’t dig the Nuggets’ direction. But how to quantify that skill, other than by who’s done it before? If that’s the criterion, Slot would be an option - yikes. I just don’t know how they’d realistically find someone better.

Is there any serious case to have let him go? Even if we hadn’t got over the line, he’d have kept us in the race until late May with the joint highest number of injuries leading to a missed game (19), and the 3rd most days lost to injury (603). And against an opponent with a 20% larger wage bill.

Nice try, genius. Born, raised & live in north London. My club’s international fanbase is genuine, yours is plastic” is the kind of quality debate we’re all here for. Everyone knows Scottish football’s an empty joke and your club’s one of the main reasons for it.

Treads @treads.bsky.social · 03/06/2026
Hilarious coming from a supporter of a club whose famously international fanbase is two times bigger than Scotland’s entire population, which has allowed them to turn the league into a bad joke. And whose player of the season is a Swede, and young player of the season is South Korean. Jog on, troll.

Also your claim that PSG - who have annihilated the competitive balance of their own league - winning the CL is a “win for football” is laughably myopic.
020
Treads @treads.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
Yep PSG were so stressed by Lens they used the best fullbacks on earth in just over half their matches. Your point was about Arsenal’s style. Mine is that ignoring the relative difficulty of the domestic leagues is disingenuous. I wonder how PSG’s squad looks after 10 months in the PL meat grinder.

Treads @treads.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
Hilarious avoidance of the total lack of competition in Ligue Un here @duncancastles.bsky.social. As @barneyronay.bsky.social pointed out, PSG can focus all their efforts on 9 games from Feb-May. If Arsenal’s squad had that kind of rest they’d be able to play quite differently both on- and off-ball.

He was bought for depth up front, cost same as Joao Pedro, less than Sesko, Woltemade & Ekitike & half Isak. He scored more than all of them & won the league. Again, he’s a back up. If he’s sold this summer it won’t be for a loss. If these signings are failures I’d love to see a successful one.

Lol. Jesus’s career has been wrecked by 2 massive knee injuries, one playing for Brazil. As Arteta said he changed the team’s world when he turned up, with his league winning mindset. Evidence: Arsenal finished no worse than 2nd in league & QF of CL since then. Turnover doubled. As for Gyokeres…
