The New Orleans rebirth started with the Superdome
The iconic stadium was a symbol of everything Hurricane Katrina tore apart 20 years ago. Then came the comeback.

I caught Danny Boyle's new film "INK" at TIFF. Guy Pearce portrays Rupert Murdoch as an underdog, and MAYBE as the a moral compass to Larry Lamb's scrupleless ambition. Emphasis on the "maybe." I wrote about it here: wapo.st/4h4Xmpb

Is America ready for the ‘humble,’ ‘underdog’ Rupert Murdoch in ‘Ink’?
Set long before Fox News, Danny Boyle’s new film charts the early days of Murdoch as a tabloid executive, played by Guy Pearce.

I caught the new @alexgibneyfilm.bsky.social documentary, "Musk," at the Toronto International Film Festival. It's nearly four hours long, deeply engrossing and terrifying. It'll come out soon. Before then, here a few of my thoughts: wapo.st/4h3hdVH

‘Musk’ film is almost four hours long, engrossing and terrifying. What to know.
The documentary paints the tech trillionaire as a power-hungry megalomaniacal conman with a god complex. Musk accuses filmmaker Alex Gibney of compiling "hit list" against him.

On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast. The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me. But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.
On Nov. 16, a mental health counselor recorded in Kamilla’s medical records that her mother reported the girl had lost her appetite after being “served food that contained worms.”

A week later, the couple said, children were told to gather in the gym for what they believed would be a Thanksgiving celebration. Excitement spread as families saw tables set with turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, they said. The children waited expectantly. But when a parent asked when the celebration would begin, Oksana said, staff told them the holiday meal was for employees, not detainees.

The children, she said, watched despondently as the feast was packed away.
