Black as coal, tougher than iron, these mighty mites pair well with plate armor but you'll also see them on the great forgemasters' hands as well.

Coalgrip gauntlets can be equipped as part of one's armor and while they provide no AC bonus, they themselves are completely immune to fire, their wearer is resistant to fire, and their wearer is overall immune to the Heat Metal spell.

Additionally, the wearer of coalgrips can touch or hold objects that are incredibly hot without concern.

I'm going to post an actual combat spell today! Ignition Aka. Alchemist's fire, the spell It's really nasty, IMO. Balancing this was (is) a challenge as it puts enemies in a choice punishment situation. #DnD #5e #D&D #Dungeonmasters 1/

Ignition

3rd-level evocation
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V, S, M (a vial of flammable oil)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute.

You snap your fingers and a target within range and sight shall combust. If the target fails a DEX save, sticky flames will cover them from head to toe and burn for up to 1 minute. The flames deal 3d8 fire damage when this spell is cast and then again at the end of the target’s every turn until extinguished. Burning targets shed bright light in a 10ft radius and dim light in a 20ft radius.

The target(s) can put themselves out at any time by spending an action and dropping prone to roll. No check is needed. They can also be put out via application of significant water (several gallons applied swiftly.)

At higher levels, when you cast this spell using a slot of 4th level or higher, you can affect one additional target per level above the 3rd.

I'm in a spells mood. Check this one out, Mage Skull Aka. Cantrip of Trolling and misdirection. It's like the old ventriloquism spell sure, but it's a floating skull so it can be seen (unless you're clever.) This puts it firmly in the tool category in practice. #DnD #5e #D&D #Dungeonmasters 1/

Cantrip Illusion
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 30 feet
Target: A point you choose within range
Components: V S
Duration: 1 minute
Classes: Artificer, Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard

A spectral, floating skull appears at a point you choose within range. The skull lasts for the duration or until you dismiss it as an action. The skull vanishes if it is ever more than 30 feet away from you or if you cast this spell again.

You can use your action to control the skull. It can speak, sing, whistle, and generally make any sounds with its mouth that the caster could normally make with theirs. It can speak either in the caster’s voice or in “undead voice” which is a terrible rasping sort of voice. Nothing it does has a specific effect but the caster is welcome to use skills like deceit, persuasion, intimidation, etc with the skull.

However, the caster cannot see or hear via the skull, so keep that in mind. Also, the skull cannot interact with physical objects. It does not count as an object nor as a creature, but as a spell effect. You can move the skull up to 30 feet each time you use it. The skull can’t attack nor activate magic items. The skull can pass through physical matter without problem but it cannot pass through magical barriers of any sort; even the shield spell will stop it.
