My daughter and I did felting together (mine's the frog) before she headed back to her apartment. Sometimes you need to stab something with very long needles a LOT. (NOT A POLITICAL POST. ) It was great to have her stay a bit after we got back from the hospital, after looking after the animals.

No problem. I was definitely in a liminal space, but it wasn't bad or threatening. I was kind of aware of being close to death, but it wasn't scary. I was comforted.

I mean, the easiest thing is to assume I was dreaming and/or hallucinating in shock. I wasn't scared or anything, and it was pretty seamless with when I was conscious. I've never used the kind of drugs that make you see things, so I don't know. It seemed to happen most when things hurt less.

I think the implication was that he was taking my file out of the 'going to die right now' cabinet. I was likely asleep for that. I didn't have a fever and was not on pain meds until much later. My body temperature was low (likely shock), so I'm not sure the exact type of altered state I was in.

The other one was definitely while I was not conscious, but before they moved me to a room. It was an old man in coveralls who took me to a dingy place full of old filling cabinets. He had a crowbar. Tapped a cabinet with it, then winked at be and pried it open. He said he'd sorted it for me.🤷‍♀️

One of them was an old woman who kind of resembled a great aunt I only met a few times when I was little. She patted the hand holding the hork bag and told me it was going to be okay, not to worry.

It was pretty simple. I kept seeing a lot of people out of the corner of my eye wandering around the ER. Once, I was about to say something like, why are there so many people in this room? And when I focused, they weren't there. Only a few of them spoke to me or touched me.

They were welcoming if they noticed me. Otherwise, it was just a lot of extra people who weren't there wandering around the emergency department.

This year has been challenging in many ways, and I have immense gratitude for the kindness and support of family, community, and people like you who have continued to stand by me through everything. As many of you are aware, ve been navigating one of the most challenging periods of my day while waiting for dinner.
Facing baseless federal hunger brought on by not eating since lunch, fighting for the working kids of this country, and now caring for a mean toddler and helping him grow up in a world that isn't always easy. But it has also reminded me exactly why I do this work and who I do it for.
I will never stop working to eat dinner. I will never stop fighting for what is right, even when there is also some feta in the fridge. And I will never stop being so very thankful that you are by my side in this important work and that there is tahini in the pantry for dressing
