I’m not really familiar with the current record of the case like you are so idk what chances it would have at a jury. But if all her claims are reinstated then it could potentially set a very bad precedent that gender affirming care is fraud and conspiracy if they mange to get dealt a bad jury

Hopefully you’re right, but tbh I’m not too optimistic for the NC Supreme Court since it has a conservative majority and especially if they decide to just ignore the statue of respose question entirely.

That’s obviously how it should be but in this age of extremely partisan judges I don’t think they can always be relied on to be objective and impartial

Wood County Dems have joined in. (I'm not saying the statement is as strong as if prefer, but when the party is actively trying to silence criticism, any statement is appreciated.)

Graphic text: Statement by Arienne Childrey, ODP Pride Caucus Vice Chair (writing strictly in a personal capacity; opinions are her own and not endorsed by the caucus or ODP). "In 2025, I was proud to be elected Vice Chair of the ODP Pride Caucus. I take my responsibility to represent the LGBTQ+ community—and, as a trans woman, especially the trans community—very seriously. I am deeply disturbed by the concerted effort by the Ohio Democratic Party to silence fellow Democrats attempting to hold candidates accountable for anti-trans positions and advertising. Twice today, a mild, respectful statement from a county party was deleted from the Pride Caucus social media channels. Let me be explicit: these deletions were not executed by the Pride Caucus. They were carried out directly by the Ohio Democratic Party itself, overreaching to censor our platform. That statement didn't attack the congresswoman; it simply asked her to discontinue her anti-trans ads. Apparently, even that basic demand for human dignity is too much for ODP leadership. This censorship must be called out. The only thing more disgusting than a Democrat leaning into transphobic messages for a perceived electoral advantage is a state party apparatus that steps in to silence the people criticizing that behavior.I have no doubt some within leadership would love for me to resign to make their lives easier. But it has never been my job to make the lives of bureaucrats—who trade on trans rights like a commodity—easier. My job is to fight for my community and ensure we are represented. I will continue to do exactly that, even when it makes the 'powers that be' uncomfortable. A Democratic Party that abandons the marginalized is a soulless party. I won't stop trying to save the heart and soul of this party, I won't be silenced, and I won't allow the voices of our community to be silenced." This statement is personal commentary and is not paid for or authorized by any campaign committee.

You can email Kaptur's office. info@marcykaptur.com BE NICE. Seriously. BE NICE. The staffer reading the email doesn't deserve vitriol. They weren't responsible for the ad. They're just some intern or admin assistant. My email to them yesterday:

Rep. Kaptur:

I nearly threw up when I heard about your ad throwing trans kids under the bus. I always thought you were one of the good ones, but apparently not. Feminism? What's that? I hope you are primaried next time around. You don't win elections by throwing tiny minorities of people under the bus and undermining their rights. You win by strongly protecting EVERYONE'S
RIGHTS, especially vulnerable children. Have you learned nothing from the last 10 years? Apparently not. Candidates like you are constantly begging for money nationwide, and I give to people in states all over the country all the time but I wouldn't give you a penny, even if you were going to lose
to the worst Trumper in the world. It's disgusting what you've done and you'll never wash the stench of it off you. Retire. It's the only option you have left. Let someone new take your seat. Maybe they won't be such an
embarrassment.
You have no shame, but you should. I hope your kids and grandkids are reading you the riot act and telling you how awful this is. You deserve to hear it. It's appalling.

The level at which the Ohio state Democratic party is attacking its own members to crack down on solidarity with trans people is extremely disturbing.

That doesn’t really make sense. How does reassigning the case to this particular judge make it anymore likely to quietly disappear than with the previous judge? If anything, O’Conner would probably be more likely to try to keep it alive…

Hopefully you’re right but given how aggressively the Trump administration has been attacking trans rights I don’t see them just quietly abandoning this case

transunity4.bsky.social @transunity4.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
That’s why I said prolonging the case long enough that the next administration could drop the case would be a good thing. If that happened WPATH wouldn’t need to win.

I’m concerned though that O’Connor might rush the case particularly after he granted the government’s request to subpoena RI children’s hospital in a matter of hours without even giving the hospital a chance to respond. Could he do the same thing here?

Slowing it down would still be good since if the case is still ongoing in early 2029 and Democrats win in 2028, the new FTC will probably drop the case assuming it hasn’t progressed to the point where it can’t be dropped anymore.

Is this true? Does the bill actually enable lawsuits by people claiming they were “influenced” into transitioning?

Would this class action lawsuit require any records that have been handed over to be returned or destroyed? It also needs to bar the government from using the information they obtained in the investigation and bar them from sharing or citing it in investigations/court proceedings!

Personally, I don’t think it did. I understand what Kaine was trying to say to Cole, but he said it all wrong. While I appreciate his later statement supporting trans rights, it felt massively diluted due to his response to Cole and certainly didn’t make up for it.
000
transunity4.bsky.social @transunity4.bsky.social · 04/06/2026
I guess for some trans people, what Kaine said later outweighed his statement to Cole. Even Shannon Minter, the only trans person to testify at the hearing, praised Kaine afterwards per The Advocate www.advocate.com/politics/nat...

transunity4.bsky.social @transunity4.bsky.social · 04/06/2026
I agree that was by far the worst part! I’m honestly shocked right news outlets and X users aren’t lapping it up. Instead they’re focusing on other parts of the hearing or Kaine’s follow up response supporting trans rights.

transunity4.bsky.social @transunity4.bsky.social · 03/06/2026
I will say I am surprised that the hearing isn’t getting much media coverage and what little coverage it has gotten particularly in right wing outlets has largely focused on Cole’s testimony rather than cherry picking what Democrats said.

transunity4.bsky.social @transunity4.bsky.social · 03/06/2026
IMO the Dems did a good job overall but weren’t as strong as the could’ve been. I think they should’ve defended gender affirming care more instead of pivoting to Trump’s overall attacks. I also think Minter could’ve been stronger, particularly when he was being hammered by Sen Moody…

Then again, Hein’s twitter account is private, so even if she is talking about it, we wouldn’t know. Still, since she has 13k+ followers, I would expect at least one person who follows her to re-post any update in the lawsuit she views as “good news” more publicly.

Oftentimes detransitioners will celebrate their smallest so called “wins” including their case surviving a procedural motion, and then be completely silent if the case gets dismissed or narrowed. So if they don’t say anything, it may not have gone well for them.

It's absurd that a podcast about gender affirming care for trans youth failed to include a single interview of a current trans youth. And yet, this was considered pulitzer worthy. They were missing the entire subject of the story. Trans people are always spoken about but never spoken to.
