I've been on HRT for 8 years today. I'm not sure I can celebrate, but I can be grateful. I'm extremely grateful that I have (more or less) access to hormones. I'm grateful to the trans people who figured out what works best & shared their knowledge, to the trans women who made & shipped my vials.

What made yesterday's episode of survivor fun & memorable to me wasn't the production twists or celebrity cameos, it wasnt even the 2000 coconuts. It was the player being creative and coming up with a new way of using the basic game mechanics to their advantage.

I honestly cant begin to explain how incredible it is to me that fidesz lost these districts. The whole thing seems like a dream but I was there not even two weeks ago and would have laughed in your face at the suggestion. There is so much work to do but this is an incredible first step.

The city of Berlin no longer finances LGBTQI+ sensitivity workshops for employees working in refugee housing facilities, so they are no longer mandatory for people working in these facilities. Contractors now decide whether to pay for their own workshops when running a facility for the city.

I can't believe I get to say I've done ten years of transition. We used to say, "It gets better," but that feels even more trite now than it probably was then. Instead, in the face of all the ways which progress for trans people has regressed, & in light of the will we have always had to overcome...

The problem with going back to the same field in the same city as I was in pre-transition is that now I get to have awkward "Your (very distinct) last name is familiar, are you related to 'old first name'?" and having to decide on the fly whether to make up a brother or out myself 😂

There is something so special to me about watching a cis person show genuine empathy for my experiences as a trans woman. Not "ugh, that sucks" but tears of rage or actually losing control a little when confronted with a trans experience. My bar might be low, but those moments stick with me.

I do have to point out that even with a more-accepting society, there is a gulf between "I am okay with queers" and "I am okay with my kid being a queer". People can support LGBT rights in the abstract and then get spooked when their own precious cinnamon roll makes them a "non-traditional family".
