For Tokyo, was able to reserve a place in their lottery system they put in place. Should find out if I was successful on Oct. 16.

@spiteri316.bsky.social @doominalcross.bsky.social I’ve said this before, but regarding your criticisms of MP4. You guys had waited a LONG time for the game, so I understand. I’m a new Metroid player in comparison, so my wait time was shorter, and also why I didn’t mind the game as much.

Metroid fans - we've trained long and hard for this day. Mother Brain must be eliminated.

After all these years of computing, reading etc. my eyes are finally telling me to get some help. Will have to get some reading glasses. General eyesight is still fine, and considering how much time I’ve spent in front of a screen I’ve done pretty well.

Took a quick video of the Tokyo Metro screen Nintendo are doing for Zelda’s 40th anniversary. Missed the first part sadly. Seems it’s a series of quizzes that they did for Mario as well.

Preparing Asian Games stories has been quite fun. I’m not the most sporty of people today the least, but there’s something about trying to jazz up a sporting article to try giving it some excitement.

(Old man hat on.) I used to love reading and hearing about new tech but now I just feel drained by it. Even looking for a TV that doesn’t have smarter AI anything is impossible.

The Post Office scandal radicalised me further against the reliance on any kind of automated systems let alone AI. Now all I see at stations and on billboards is the push for more AI in the office.

Son got to Phazon Mines. I warned him before: you may find this difficult. The next save station is pretty far and the enemies are strong. 30 minutes later: “Dad, I got the power bombs.” I check the screen: he had only gone down 2 energy tanks (he didn’t know about the puffers.) I’m jealous. 😀

Picking up more translations. Just finished working on some user guides for using Premiere and Photoshop for Japanese and English staff at a design house. The staff at the firm are such lovely people. I miss making videos and animations but I just don’t have many ideas these days.

Watching my son work out the puzzles by scanning through the wrecked frigate in Metroid Prime without me being a “Myles” has been great. The scanning and working out the clues is also showing him that it’s important to read questions in full on his school homework. It’s definitely helped him.

A Zelda-style game on the Commodore 64 that looks closer to the SNES than the NES. Mythos was an incredible demo hiding inside a C64 release, showing just how far it could be pushed, before being quietly abandoned.

Our office has been buzzing over the Nintendo announcements the last few days. It’s definitely sold a couple more Switch 2’s. We are working to see if we can cover more Nintendo stuff, but getting permissions for features regarding any kind of media can be a nightmare. Fair use isn’t a thing here!

My son managed to get the ice beam and gravity suit in his morning run of Prime. I had to prompt him a few times with hints on where to go and how to solve a puzzle. So yes, today, for my son…. … I was Myles McKenzie. 😀😀😀 (In my defence, he’s 8 and not so keen on scanning everything.)
