it's really so fucked up just how much writers now are having to avoid normal, commonplace phrases, punctuation, typing quirks, or even just natural fuckups, because these things have now been deigned signs of ai and are treated as if they belong to the language models now

They don't love men they just hate women. It's not homosexual it's misogynistic. Even the "love" of all those figures is reliant on performance, not the man. If they stray from masculinity they're abandoned for someone else who lets them dwell in their power fantasy.

Friendly reminder that Duolingo was initially concieved to trick people into translating articles for free, which they later used as training data for MTL algorithms. Duolingo's primary purpose has NEVER been about teaching you a language, even from the start! slate.com/technology/2...

If it doesn’t charge users and, so far, doesn’t serve them any ads, how does Duolingo make money? It tricks you into working as an unpaid translation service. At the end of some lessons, Duolingo will ask you if you want to practice by translating a real-world document. Which will turn out to be, say, a BuzzFeed article. By melding together enough stabs at this task from high-level Duolingo users, the app can render a surprisingly accurate translation. Which is worth good money. So far, Duolingo has contracts with BuzzFeed and CNN to translate stories from English into languages such as Spanish, French, and Portuguese. This service is already earning Duolingo hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, but von Ahn predicts he will be adding a raft of new clients soon. “The language translations market is huge,” he says. “It’s a $30 billion per year market.”

what makes the pokemon tcg scalpers' complaints about how damaging the 30th anniversary pack is for them is that they literally did get almost all of the stock? in australia at least, it was sold out everywhere within 20 hours. so idk what they're complaining about 💀

Too much text to put in one post but tl;dr: I REALLY need a rollator so I'm advertising my comms and Ko-fi shop again! Shares are super appreciated! ko-fi.com/amirisqueer

Hi, it's me, the one billion health issues and expenses guy!

I have determined that a cane is not enough of a mobility aid for me anymore; I need an all-terrain rollator. Basically, I need to be able to stop, sit down, and rest whenever I'm out, to avoid overexerting myself and getting calf cramps. I have noticed that sitting down and relaxing my legs from time to time helps quite a bit to reduce pain and fatigue.

I specifically need an all-terrain rollator since I need to walk outdoors a lot, be it to/from class or work, or going out in the field to collect data for my courses. This would be nothing short of life changing for me, and would greatly help to restore my mobility.

So! I need $250 for the rollator I've got my eye on. My savings account is a bit skinny given that I just paid off part of my tuition (and I've also got a trip to see my friend coming up in October), so I'm once again advertising my commissions and Ko-fi shop. I've got head shot and full body commissions available, as well as some leftovee adoptables and several physical pieces of art for sale. You can also just donate, if you'd like!

Thanks for reading, and for sharing this if you do so!
