Abby @transitsimp.bsky.social · 19/05/2026Ever notice how bikini bottom has hardly any parking lots? Even the Krusty Krab, the most popular restaurant in the city, located away from the city center, has next to no parking because everyone walks despite the city’s lack of sidewalks. 030
Abby @transitsimp.bsky.social · 19/05/2026Bikini bottom is interesting because it seems to be very reminiscent of early 20th century America. The city has zero sidewalks but it doesn’t matter because bikini bottomites will share the roads with both cars and pedestrians, much like America before jaywalking became illegal. 141
Abby @transitsimp.bsky.social · 26/04/2026Kinda realized I forgot to mention on this account that I’m going to be transferring to the University of Illinois Chicago starting in August so like I’ll be living in Chicago for at least half the year. So like if any Chicago mutuals want to link at some point afterwards hit me up. 470

Today, I assembled a roundtable to discuss our Building Up Illinois Developments Plan — and the consensus was that we need to act fast. Looking forward to passing it and getting to work in our neighborhoods. 311995257

Abby @transitsimp.bsky.social · 27/01/2026A very interesting year for sure, and I’m curious as to what the city data looks like, though we’ll have to wait a few months before we get it. Thanks for reading! 100
Abby @transitsimp.bsky.social · 27/01/2026California, Vermont, New Mexico, Hawaii, and West Virginia all saw population decreases. New Mexico and California saw growth in 2024 only to decline in 2025. Only one state went from negative population growth in 2024 to positive population growth in 2025 - Mississippi. 110
Abby @transitsimp.bsky.social · 27/01/2026In contrast, states like Ohio and Michigan have seen a reversal in their domestic migration trends, seeing positive growth after declining at the start of the decade. 110
Abby @transitsimp.bsky.social · 27/01/2026In the case of second place Florida, though, the state continues to see a decrease in domestic migration. In 2022, the net domestic change was +310,892. In 2025, that change was only +22,517; a decrease of 92.76%. 110
Abby @transitsimp.bsky.social · 27/01/2026In terms of numeric change, Texas added the most people at +391,243. Second place was Florida at +196,680, and third place was North Carolina. 110

Abby @transitsimp.bsky.social · 27/01/2026Now let’s move on to the state by state data. 45 states and DC saw population growth in 2025. Of the 10 largest states, only California saw a small population decrease. 110
Abby @transitsimp.bsky.social · 27/01/2026The Midwest is the only region this year that saw every state grow in population. It also saw net positive domestic migration for the first time this decade, at a rate of +16,000. Overall, the region grew by 244,385. 110
Abby @transitsimp.bsky.social · 27/01/2026In terms of the regional population growth, the south remains the fastest growing at 0.9%. All 4 regions saw population growth, though at slower rates than in 2024. 110
Abby @transitsimp.bsky.social · 27/01/2026This change comes from a drop in international migration; though the levels still remain positive. The state’s with the largest change in international migration were Florida (+178,674), Texas (+167,475) and California (+109,278). 110
Abby @transitsimp.bsky.social · 27/01/2026For starters, the U.S population went from 340 million to 341.8 million. This is a change of 0.5%, the slowest growth since 2021, and down from the 1% change we saw in 2024. 120
