Authoring GTFS-Pathways using Interline Station Editor? Consuming thousands of feeds using Transitland APIs? Planning multimodal journeys using Interline Routing Platform APIs? Interline Principal Ian Rees will be happy to chat about it all at MobilityData's upcoming summit...

The linked blog post includes a Python script if you'd also like to combine California coastal access points (or any other GIS features) with Transitland Datasets: www.interline.io/blog/riding-...

Thanks to @thecacoast.bsky.social's open data, we've found that a clear majority of California coastal access points are accessible via public transit:
Results: transit frequency to reach the California coast

We ran that script against an April 2026 Transitland Dataset covering all US transit operators. Out of 1,625 coastal access points with coordinates:

🚌 913 have a transit stop within a half mile (more than half of all coastal access points in the state)
🔍 427 more have transit within three miles (likely hikeable, assuming there are appropriate pedestrian shoulders or trails)
The remaining 285 have no transit within three miles

Transitland's new Pathways Explorer lets anyone visualize subway/train/bus station layouts, inspect wheelchair-accessible routes, and test station navigation using GTFS-Pathways data in public feeds. More on our blog at www.interline.io/blog/explore...

Built with Transitland: "A subway arrivals sign using an off-the-shelf sign and a Raspberry Pi. No soldering skills required." The creator has been generous enough to share their instructions and source code: github.com/mdejean/signpi

Together with a number of small refinements and large refactoring for future functionality, we've added a "dark" mode to the Transitland website. Try it out at www.transit.land
