So we don't usually make version update posts but this is a bit of a special one. We just released v0.6.7 which in and of itself isn't immensely interesting, it's a very bug fix heavy release just like v0.6.6. A lot of those bug fixes should fix compatibility with some apps namely Colibri. But ...

For this use case you can even add other people as "controllers" with limited access in case you need to give a social media manager or friend or contractor or whatever! some limited access to eg. make a Bluesky post every so often

Yup! Sounds like yet another perfect use case for delegated accounts that we didn't consider originally. You can make a new account right in the Tranquil PDS UI that's "delegated" and acts as a separate account that you log in with but you use your own account as the login credentials

Okay now I'm (nel) tired of waiting for them to make their way through the nixos pipeline. Tranquil is officially in nixpkgs now! with a package for the backend and frontend and a module all based on the in-repo versions. v0.6.4 should hit nixos-unstable soon and v0.6.5 shouldnt be long after that

we have an open issue and internal discussions about exactly something like this! our biggest sticking point is what exactly we want to show there. we could redirect to that profiles stargraph or similar but we also dont want to favour one specific application. it would probably also make sense

this is a fine if cumbersome option for single user instances but practially impossible for big PDSs we plan to eventually have a migration path for bigger PDSs with a script that will pull out the necessary data from the ref impls databases and put them into tranquil in the right way

both configured for the same public connection. you need to be a bit careful with seq numbers to make sure the relay will actually pick up new events after the migration but it is all possible ... if slightly cumbersome

you can! its a bit finicky and i would recommend really looking into the details before you do it. but you can. PDSMoover has an option to override source and target PDS thus allowing you to do a migration from one PDS to the other using seperate local connections for the migration even if theyre

app passwords are only scoped if you want them to be! its optional. and the scopes are the exact same as the oauth scopes (thats not properly exposed in the UI currently. but thats what they are) and we plan to have a lighter build at some point

for tranquil we also decided to do away with the singular admin password and instead have admin accounts. that way multiple people can independently added and revoked as admins without needing to worry about admin password rotations or special client-side admin auth handling

did:web as a techie option is fair though in my (nels) opinion though. it has enough footguns that non-techy people probably shouldnt be using it. at least not for their main user accounts. i think the way forward here is to instead improve the state of the trustworthiness PLC through the PLC org

tranquil has support for pds hosted did:web yes. but that comes with the major downside of under mining credible exit since you end up not really being able to fully migrate away from the PDS that owns your did:web.

pushed a tiny fix for tranquil pds on debug.hose.cam the debugger now shows `version` from the pds `describeServer` if present, falling back on the `_health` endpoint (for bsky pds impl) and no longer failing if the response at _health is not a JSON object
