Following Bangor & Aroostook 20 across most of the Northeast T-Trak layout…until an unfortunate derailment at the yard switch. The reason it’s going so fast is apparent in the final seconds. Trying not to get rear-ended by high speed rail! #modeltrains #modelrailroad #ttrak #modelrailroading

I don’t know about the rest of you, but seeing this sticker on the front of a Bachmann DCC locomotive really doesn’t make me want to buy that (or any) Bachmann DCC locomotive. #bachmann #dcc #modeltrains #modelrailroad #hoscale
Sticker on a Bachmann locomotive box which reads:
Note: In many cases, programming issues may cause a Bachmann locomotive to stop running.
You can restore operation by programming two CV's as follows: On sound decoders, set CV30 to 2.
On non-sound decoders, set CV8 to 8.
Then turn off the power to the loco, then back on again.
This will restore the decoder to factory settings.

Here’s the almost finished T-Trak module. I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out and just need to glue a little Optimus Prime truck cab near the spaceship. It will be at Railfair in Boxboro, MA in a week and a half. #TTrak #ModelRailroading #ModelTrains #NScale #Transformers
A T-Trak module showing a mountain with a few pine trees on the left. A spaceship is crashed into the bottom right side of the mountain…which resembles a certain spaceship from a certain 1984 cartoon series. This module is more than meets the eye!

Latest update: Added some rubble around the base, attached the tracks, and then put down some brown “dirt”. (It should dry lighter colored than it appears here after glue was applied.) Next step: a handful of pine trees which I’ve already distressed.
A mountain with a spaceship crashed into the right side and two rows of train tracks in front of it covered by masking tape. Various Lego in the background.

Update! Lightened up some areas, detailed the spaceship a bit, painted the entrance to the Autobot base under the ship, painted the remaining exposed wood, and repainted the bottom. Next: fallen rocks, burnt grass, and a few pine trees. Then track! Will be on display at Railfair in Boxboro, MA.

I have the similar Overland Coach by Athearn. I got it because it’s “close enough” to Sierra Railway’s coach which was one of the cars being pulled through Hill Valley in Back to the Future 3. I will remove the number and replace “Southern” with “Central Pacific”.

My wife is an artist, so she helped it look more like a mountain than a pile of mud! Will add more details to the ship and then fix up the ground and add the tracks! I also have an Optimus Prime cab to park there. #modelrailroading #ttrak #transformers
A T-trak module featuring a model of part of the volcano that the Autobots’ ship crashed into 4 million and 42 years ago. The ass-end of the ship is sticking out of the mountain. How did nobody notice that in 4 million years?

This was stuck to the cover of the August 2026 issue of Trains magazine. As someone who paid for a subscription to 12 printed issues for his 8 year-old son to get in the mail, I can’t say I’m a fan of this…
Dear Subscriber,
Trains magazine is renewing its focus to bring you the best rail-related magazine and No. 1 rail industry news site in North America.
What's ahead on the track? A more immersive print and digital experience, with exclusive features, video enhancements to bring print stories to life, and a new, improved mobile app.

As part of these efforts, the September 2026 and February 2027 issues will appear exclusively in our digital formats on Trains.com, on the Trains web app through Zinio, and in the new Trains iOS app, rather than as printed issues. You will still receive 12 issues of Trains each year - the same stories, photography, and coverage you expect. What's changing is how two of those issues are delivered. All subscribers will receive full access to these digital issues, including exclusive, interactive features.
Plus, the digital format will allow some new weekly website subscriber-exclusives, like our Trains Tuesday feature articles, presented in a beautiful new, magazine-like format.

Access the apps now to begin enjoying the enhanced digital experience with your August 2026 issue. We hope you enjoy this issue and the investments we're making to bring you Trains magazine - the magazine of railroading.

Sincerely,
The Trains Team

You said you’d be wearing a shirt with trains and a train hat, but that didn’t narrow it down much. 😅 I had a Maine Central shirt. My son loved following the trains around the layout…especially when they went into tunnels and he didn’t know where they’d appear next!

After an unexpected delay of four months due to a life-threatening medical issue and recovery (also the reason there were no shows posted in the second half of February), I finally got plaster on my T-Trak module’s mountain!
A double width T-Trak module has a white plaster mountain that’s more than a foot tall. Sticking out of the mountain on the right is the rear end of The Ark from 1984’s The Transformers TV show. Here’s a reference photo from The Transformers. As you can see, I still need to paint everything and add some pine trees to replicate what the Japanese animators thought the Pacific Northwest looked like.

If it’s modeled after the Portland Lewiston Interurban (where most cars were from Laconia Car Company), it would be worth a decent price tag to me. (Probably the Seashore Trolley Museum too.)

I was trying to determine the dimensions of a supermarket over I-90 in Newton, MA using only Google Maps and Streetview to see if it would fit on a T-Trak module. (It will!) I’ll go visit at some point for more precise measurements. Everyone from MA at train shows would recognize it.

If I had to pick just ONE, it would be the Portland Lewiston Interurban’s “Narcissus”. I pick this because it’s the one car that has survived (and is being restored), but there’s 0% chance any company would ever produce it as a model. If I can pick more than one, well, I have a list…

Unrelated, but this simple starter layout is what you can see in the background. Note that the siding on the far right extends two tracks to the very edge. The bumpers there can be removed and the track connected to T-Trak modules…even though this loop is not intended as T-Trak.
A loop of N scale Atlas track with two tracks on the left side of the loop. The right side has sidings that lead into a train shed in the far right corner. There are also two short sidings that extend to the very edge on the right. The center of the loop has a dirt road and four buildings. Some small trees with green foliage are sparsely sprinkled across the layout.

I feel like I made significant progress in my T-Trak module today. It’s actually starting to take shape! (First photo is from almost a month ago. The other two are today.) Next step: plaster sheets to cover the mountain.
Rear half of the Autobot spaceship known as The Ark as seen in the first episode of The Transformers in 1984. There is a sticker with the logo for TWiT.tv under it…because I took this photo to show people in the Club TWiT 3D printing Discord channel.A double-width T-Trak module has pink insulation foam standing up in a T shape which has been cut to contours of a mountain. The Ark from the previous photo is on the right side sitting an inch above the module box and is turned at a roughly 30° angle. The same mountain, but now with loosely crumpled up newspaper filling in the mountain and held in place by masking tape. The Ark is now partially covered.

Latest progress on the T-Trak module:
Insulation foam cut to help shape a mountain and the pieces form a T. The rear of The Ark from The Transformers (G1) is inside the right area of the mountain. They sit on a double-wide T-Trak module box. No N scale track has been attached yet.

I took a trip down the Mass Pike to pick up a friend at the airport last night and got an idea for another T-Trak module that I want to do. I should really finish the two I've started first. www.wgbh.org/news/local/2...
Star Market over the Mass Pike. It's an ugly cement structure on pillars with 6 lanes of highway passing underneath. Two MBTA railroad tracks pass by on the side closest to the camera, but do not go under the supermarket.

Rapido (who STILL isn’t posting at @rapidotrains.bsky.social for some reason) was showing off the EMD F40PH-2D at the Amherst show. *sigh* Is it really that much to ask for an F40PH-2C or -3C in MBTA livery to pull the MBTA cars they’ve already produced?
Not a great photo, but Rapido was showing off the EMD F40PH-2D.
