View from the afternoon, "I'm going to research da Vinci after I've completed my rod collection and bestiary." (I don't know what game this relates to.)

There's a teenage seagull stood on my car, I bet you a pound it's been eating crisps all morning

I think I bought Wreck up.. from Oxfam in the 90s. Lucky find. Brilliant singer. Like Leroy Sibbles his voice got richer with age. Still love early tunes like You Bend My Love, but Dancing Mood is my favourite.

Was it the guy who ate the aeroplane?

He shaves in the bath and eats a saveloy from the chippy. I love it, but I expect I saw it at an impressionable time.

Just heard a debate on R4 re: sensitivity edits to That Mitchell and Webb Look, now back on iplayer. There was no discussion about the politically permissive, cruel and cynical noughties zeitgeist. And it feels like the edits are there primarily to save M&W from embarrassment.

I thought of Kinky Friedman the other day. I just remember the name. I somehow think of him as the kind of author Tom Waits fans would read.

Doing my knee replacement recovery walk along Meols embankment. Having to play chicken with the council verge cutting tractor, which feels unnecessary. Looking forward to my 'Bean Anywhere' coffee.

That skull poster. They had it in the village library and it scared the living shit out of me.

Disch seemed to specialise in very dark subject matter. The only novel I've read by him was titled The Genocides, about aliens converting earth into farmland. Highly readable, but very grim.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Late, but so what. The Wailing is brilliant, intense, constantly surprising, emotionally complex, and in some places, a bit daft. Cannonball was a bit of dumb relief. Kronos underwhelmed tbh, I've seen it a few times and was hoping for fresh takeaways.

It's a very steep social learning curve. It was the first time I'd met people outside of my regional comfort zone and class. As well as learning how to engage with substances without turning white and vomiting.

I tried to watch Reflections.. after reading the book, but it just spoiled what I'd imagined in my mind's eye, so I turned it off. I do find it hilarious that they released the film originally with a gold sepia tint.

They had some fool on the Today programme saying Rod was a lovely warm guy, despite also saying that Liddle had lied about him in public and that his columns were cruel.
