Just heard a debate on R4 re: sensitivity edits to That Mitchell and Webb Look, now back on iplayer. There was no discussion about the politically permissive, cruel and cynical noughties zeitgeist. And it feels like the edits are there primarily to save M&W from embarrassment.

Doing my knee replacement recovery walk along Meols embankment. Having to play chicken with the council verge cutting tractor, which feels unnecessary. Looking forward to my 'Bean Anywhere' coffee.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Late, but so what. The Wailing is brilliant, intense, constantly surprising, emotionally complex, and in some places, a bit daft. Cannonball was a bit of dumb relief. Kronos underwhelmed tbh, I've seen it a few times and was hoping for fresh takeaways.

Jenny was a regular at Liquidation when it was at Hardy's on Hardman Street. Since then I've seen her grow from a distance, through social media. She was an unbelievably talented, committed and conscientious woman. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Thinking about David Hockney and what an inspiration he's been, one of those accessible artists who could make the radical seem ordinary and possible. And there's that lovely Gerald Scarfe story about coming second in a drawing competition in The Eagle, the winner of course was D. HOCKNEY, BRADFORD.

Sad to hear about Steve Barrow's passing. All those producer compilations on Trojan and the total revelation that was Blood & Fire, were my musical education. I've also got massive respect for Steve's eye for marketing, and most importantly, he paid the singers and players who made the music.

I witnessed the arrest of a girl in West Kirby a few hours ago. As usual, the sun has attracted youngsters on half term. She was a noisey blonde in large crimson kecks. Ridiculous mayhem. Obvious overreaction to the rare visibility of youth.
